Re: Friday Facts #401 - New terrain, new planet

I was initially excited by the cliffs when they were first introduced, but it did not take all that many playthroughs to reach the point that I grab cliff explosives fairly early. Spaghetti is fun sometimes, but the amount that seemed to always be triggered by cliffs just wasn't fun in the long run....

Re: Friday Facts #401 - New terrain, new planet

I am still worried about the cliff explosives delay, but I am reassured to see at least an attempt to fix the more annoying things about cliffs as they are. Will have to wait and see how things turn out. Personally, I would still like an early game, somewhat expensive (and single use), manual use on...

Re: Friday Facts #388 - Smaller things for 2.0

Again, a warning about the cliff explosives change. I initially was excited about building around the cliffs when they were first announced, but at the density they appear at currently, the fun has completely worn off. Unless I want to make a pile of spaghetti base, it is simply too much of a chore ...

Re: Friday Facts #386 - Vulcanus

I am going to issue this warning again. If you insist on delaying cliff explosives from where they are, unless the cliffs are turned down to about 1/10 of the current setting (at least for a majority of the biomes, special biomes can have them as a feature), I am going to turn them down myself (or o...

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups

It is true that items will have different weights. However, even though it is called weight, the measure is kilograms, which means mass. The mass of the items will not change, even though the weight changes due to gravity: W = m * g. So I would expect that changing planets will have no effect on th...

Really excited about this update. When I think about the number of deaths due to trains this will prevent in my base.

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology

That misses the point. It doesn't accomplish the same thing at all. The way things are now, you can research not only the things that use blue circuits, but the things that have those techs as prereqs, and the things that have those as prereqs, until you're researched every single tech that has the...

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology

If the number is low it can still have a huge impact. If you can't research something that requires blue circuits until you have crafted 1 blue circuit, then that requires you to actually start building some of the things you've researched to progress rather than just researching every single tech ...

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology

Please don't overuse the research triggers. They could easily become too restrictive and lock players into a single progression path (at which point there is no need for a tech tree). Blocking steel axe research until steel is actually produced, great. The same goes for limiting research that requir...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

When I first read the Friday Facts, I was panicking about my ratios all getting messed up. Then I thought about it for a bit. After a bit of though, I really like the concept. Quality is all over real life, and this seems like a fairly good way to bring it into the game. If you don't want to mess wi...

Nukes can already destroy cliffs and are both manual and expensive. Seems to fit your criteria perfectly.
If I intended to blow the adjacent section of my factory up, maybe. Plus, by nukes the fun of cliffs (at least at the default frequency) has ended.

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

Add me to the list of people concerned about delaying cliff explosives. It just isn't fun trying to build any sort of organized factory without them. I tried, and now I usually detour to cliff explosives as soon as it is reasonable. If they are delayed significantly, the cliffs are getting turned do...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Sigh, no response in either thread for about a week. In the end it doesn't matter much because the trend is still there. Factorio feels like it is shifting from an automation game with just enough tower defense to keep the player honest, to something that feels much more like a tower defense game. I...

Re: Friday Facts #307 - 0.17 stable candidate

That thread was already mentioned and it gave me the impression that categories helped, but that there were still problems when multiple mods interact. Is there any good way for an endgame miner from one mod to work with endgame deposits in another mod?

Re: Friday Facts #307 - 0.17 stable candidate

Since it hasn't been answered in 305's thread, has anything been done to help mods deal with the removal of mining hardness? If something has, how complete a replacement is it?

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

That is the worst part of the game for me. There comes a time as I move into the midgame where I spend 90% of my time running from one side of my base to the other repairing/rebuilding my defenses (Or taking a train/car from one outpost to another). Sometimes 3-4 repair jobs will be chained in a row...

Fine. I was being polite. I am well aware that the delay is their plan, but when I read that post the thought that came into my head was that they don't really care at all about really fixing the problem, so long as their average playtime number goes up. If you read the past years' FFF, and as you'...

only the problem is delayed.
Thats what we wanted
I am sure that is not what you meant to say. It appears to imply that the goal of the change was to lure players later in the game before giving up.
