On that topic, I love the player masks, I wanted to show my mother the game (she's an industrial engineer) and she couldn't tell player 2 from 3 (her and my brother) so I changed their masks to purple and blue, she loved her new suit

A note that i think somebody else had a similar problem,
The "Starting Area" is the radius of the "safe" zone, not the number of bases in the starting area

and then you run against the problem you complained (i think it was you, but i'm not sure) about to sslik, the filename on disk isn't the same as the one shown when you type the name in the save menu

Having spaces in file names causes enough problems that can be avoided entirely by just using what everybody else does, replace them with underscores...

makes things less userfriendly (because, yes, many users seem to like to exchange save games, so recognisable names are essential). They could just use names without specials chars then? hang on... did you just... space is a special char on some platforms... maybe you could just... not use special ...

Well, right now i have a exactable that parses the lua files and puts the relevant information into a csv then my roommate does his excel magic both before as he unzips them, and after where he pulls the items etc from the csv, and generates the rest of the needed data i COULD use that to more easil...

Because the save name must be a valid name on every OS factorio will run on, you are already limited the ascii-standard, the other chars you can't type are all because of various OS's saying you can't, that's why you can't have a space in the path, because Windows (i think XP and up fixed it, but it...

Me and my roommate (a computer and industrial engineer) are working on an excel document that will crawl the install folder and update itself with all the recipes from both base and each installed mod, we're almost done just working on base-edit
