Playing with biters

I never played with biters before this. IMHO, they're a distraction from what I do with this sandbox. However, after more than 7000 hrs of Factorio including finishing SpaceX with the Seablock Pack (phew), I decided to do a Deathworld run on standard settings. After finishing the game, i.e. shooting...

Re: [0.17.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion

Another question... If I'm reading this right, the tier 4 logistic robot is constructed in half a second. It requires 1 tier 4 flying robot frame, which takes 20 seconds to construct. So if I were to create an optimized factory to create tier 4 robots, I'd need 40 assemblers just to make the frames...

Re: Inventory/Crafting window location

Is there a way to change the location of the Inventory/Crafting window? It's quite annoying that it pops up right in the middle of the screen. Placing any object means you first have to move the window out of the way. Can it just be set to open to the side? Alternatively, - use the quickbar - close...

Re: Water supply for nuclear reactors

You can sideload water for a 1.1 GW plant. using 3 pumps and a tank, you can feed 28 heat exchangers. Does that single pipe segment between the three Offshore Pumps not restrict the flow too much? This setup is limited by the single pump between the offshore pumps and the tank. How much more could ...

Re: How's the pvp in the game?

It can be fun to play pvp but this is clearly not factorio's strength. Firstly (and to keep the Starcraft analogy), it's prone to cheese strategies, e.g. rush to grenades and do havoc in the opponents base. Secondly, the side that strikes first wins. I did a few 1v1 and 2v2. This has nothing to do w...

Is there a way to construct more seed generators in the late game, other than exploring the map? I have combed through FNEI and not seen anything; seems like you are limited. I am playing seablock right now, if that makes a difference...
No.
You could use console commands, though.

Re: Performance optimization - post your saves

nothing_in_particular.png It looks to me like you have layd a fine grid of rails over the entire continent! But why? A cell size of three smelter columns is way too small to be of any use. Enlarge the cells four times near your base and even more further out. Then you can expand as much as you want...

Re: Friday Facts #320 - Color correction

I work in the lighting industry. Glare is NOT a matter of total intensity (below a certain threshold). What is important are brightness differences in proximity. Even compared to the black background of the website, the new lock meets the highest UGR (unitfied glare rating) demands. We are certainly...

No answer means: No, there is no web based tool.

If someone with the time to spare could do this, I'm sure that there are more users than just me.

I like where your head's at with this post. I do agree, some non-zero amount of frustration and hardship is worth it in games - Unknown Worlds CEO Charlie Cleavland recently gave a talk about the lessons he learned making Subnautica, and one of them was that. "A little bit of frustration is go...

I fully support what 5thHorseman and eradicator wrote and like to add: Factorio is not only about efficient/elegant/optimized designs (like Lego) but also about getting there. Not only aren't the technologies available in the beginning to build a fully beaconed '000/min whatever-setup right from the...

Re: Belt math, using lower tier belts to effect.

"mixer" implies some degree of randomness. Gonna be difficult with factorio. However, not impossible... pseudo random numbers, seeded with day/night cycle time, splitter with a prefered side that is toggled with the randomness, and so on...

Re: Deploying large scale mining operations?

My outpost building became much smoother after defining a proper (and simple) interface between the station and the miners. Since I don't use bots for outposts, it's just a specific number of belts, say 4 red belts. If you later switch to a higher throughput version, you need upgraded blueprints wit...

Re: How to collect Solid fuel or Coal quickly from furnaces or any machines that uses them ?

As far as I know there is no faster way to do that, but the thing is... why should you do that often? Factorio is a game about automation. Just let it burn. :) The problem is i'm the automation that puts everything when they need something.. :D my factory is a bit crowded in the moment i have a Bit...
