Re: Testing science- and energyefficiency of chained science lab
And if the real green setup is even bigger than the green test setup they will outperform the blue setup energywise. Ah, what? Real green setup? The green setup is outperforming every other setup. The math you did is wrong because the power menu is not accurate enough. There is always a limited amo...

Re: Testing science- and energyefficiency of chained science lab
Ah well... so it is as following: Red = 12MW * 66sec = 792MW Green = 5.75MW * 137sec = 787.75MW Blue = 1.8MW * 428sec = 770MW So you see... the beaconiced versions are actually drawing almost identical total power to do the same job. That they are a little bit worse is due to the edge effects, whic...

Re: Testing science- and energyefficiency of chained science lab
Here are my new Results (Got the grey right this time. xD)
Red: 12 Labs and 15 Beacons
Green: 12 Labs and 5 Beacons
Blue: 12 Labs
I like my test setup because there is only a limited amount of Energy available, equal for all three.

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
No... It was on the second page in the eleventh post. I just copied it to the first one for new people. Ah well, probably before you edited it out, because when I took a look after you complained about us not being able to read it wasn't there anymore, if it would have been there I would have react...

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
A bit nitpicky... but he wrote it twice in one post - one time in very explicit manner: ... In all Labs were productivity modules and in all beacons were speed modules. ... Yeah, at the first page in the first post of the thread and I admit that I didn't read that one because I actually replied to ...

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
I understand the pain Distelzombie... reading is hard. Seriously! xD Ok, just to be even more clear this time: My point with this second test was to show ENERGY efficiency. Apparently beacons do not increase energy efficiency. (As stated by someone in this thread earlier). Beacons just increase spe...

Re: [0.1x.x] Factorio doesnt close correctly
Well, how many different methods of "closing the program" are there? I know two: Simply clicking the close button and changing the mods. Both are causing this problem here.
Obviously killing the task in taskmanager is another one, but it cant cause this issue.

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
Beacons are generally not used without productivity modules. So need to compare a beaconed + productivity setup to an unbeaconed + productivity setup to do an apples-to-apples power usage comparison. The increased power cost compared to a setup without productivity modules is simply the premium tha...

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
1. Did you put Productivity Modules in all three setups? 2. Also you are wrong about that it would get worse if one extends the beaconized setups. The fact is that they improve their efficiency the bigger they are. In a true 8:8 setup the power consumption results to (1 Lab + 1 Beacon) * Amount Of ...

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
I dont see a problem here. It is obvious that the setup with 25 labs uses less energy for more than double the amount of research than a SINGLE lab with beacons. It would just get worse if you extend the beaconed setups. I someone want my battery-charge display: 0eNrdXNtO40gQ/Zd+XAXUXd12LhqtNPO0/7BC...

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
I was wondering if lab setups with beacons an productivity modules really are more energy efficient as some people here stated. So I tested it: Three setups: - My setup with 25 labs and no beacons - A setup with one lab and 12 beacons - A setup with 1 lab and 8 beacons (as its usually build) I used ...

Re: [0.1x.x] Factorio doesnt close correctly
Just had this error again. This time it was because I changed the active mods. Now Im absolutely sure they are the correct logs. At the time between both instances there were two threads running. One, the old, with 75% CPU and the new one with 0%. New one got either called by the mod change or by my...

Re: Testing efficiency of chained science labs
Lav: I deliberately tested lategame science mechanics. Iceman: I did all research upgrades. Did you guys even read what I wrote? I repeat myself. Theres a "Note" section in the post. :( But I probably wasnt very clear... Some techs require multiple packs of some, but not others, per time i...

[0.15.x] Factorio doesnt close correctly
Hi there, sometimes "when I click with the mouse on Quit in the main menu", (seriously? I cant find this with search, but this sentence exists in "how to post a bug report"??) factorio does still run in background and uses huge amounts of CPU time. I've seen this in 0.14.23 too, ...

Testing science- and energyefficiency of chained science lab
Hi there. I did some testing regarding laboratory chains and other similar setups. Here are my findings: Basically this answers the following questions: How long can/should you chain labs? Whats the use? How good is it compared to direct insertion? - You should always build blocks of labs instead of...
