Re: Blueprint Abuse
It isn't really relevant to the issue. I know some people did it intentionally, others purely by accident. If your blueprint is too large, servers/clients freeze for a long time. If the blueprint is large enough, they will freeze long enough that everyone is disconnected. It would make sense, by def...

Re: Hi Wube! Would it be okay to use game screenshots on my server hosting website?
I think our most players ever was around 40.
5 to 15 is what we commonly see.
20-25 across a few factorio servers is common for us.

Re: Hi Wube! Would it be okay to use game screenshots on my server hosting website?
A new map will use nearly that much. I have servers that use as much as 5-6GB of virtual, and 4gb resident memory on Linux. That is only after 3 days game time, with no mods. A brand-new map is about 150m resident and about 600mb virtual. I wouldn't even attempt to play on a server with 512mb ram. I...

Re: 0.17.79, multiplayer crash
I see there is something about blueprints in the log just before the crash, so it may have to do with my script deleting large blueprints.
I just added this, because players can load very large blueprints.

[0.17.79] Crash: "Failed to reserve signal in block."
I don't know what happened, I wasn't online.
It is a public multiplayer server.
It is running a custom scenario script.

I was unable to upload it here on the forums, it kept failing.

Blueprint Abuse
Sadly, players are using very very large blueprints to freeze servers, sometimes long enough for everyone to be disconnected.
There needs to be some kind of option to limit max blueprint size for multiplayer servers...

hold shift, to skip loading mods?
Being able to easily skip loading any mods on boot would be great. Something as simple as "hold shift key", so it just loads vanilla or acts as a safe mode if there is a borked mod. Its annoying when your last game was modded, but you are loading up vanilla and have to wait for all mods to...

Re: Map Exchange String Headless
and yes, technically i could use this: https://wiki.factorio.com/Map_exchange_string_format
to decode it, and write a settings file.
...But it seems a bit silly to have a very nice map exchange format, and not support it on the headless server directly.

Map Exchange String Headless
It would be wonderful if there was a way to generate a map (on the headless server), from a map exchange string. It would be even better if it could still generate the map preview. This would mean my admins wouldn't have to upload maps 99% of the time, I could just make a discord bot command to star...

I've looked around, and I couldn't find any information.
One of Factorio's command like arguments is --slope-shade-property SHADEPROP
But I haven't found any additional info... What other properties can we use?

Thanks for merging those :) I just updated our banlist with it (m45). We should make something that auto-merges these lists. scout15 griefed on our server too... i just kicked him first time and said first warning... He waited a while and came back and I watched him, and banned him as soon as he sta...

M45-Science We currently have 15 Factorio servers that run 24/7: 9 are members-only, but membership is free, and automatic. All of our servers run a custom soft-mod, to help limit griefing (friendly fire is off, new players: no decon planner, can't delete blueprint books, etc) Website/Discord/Steam ...
