Re: Mouse double-click issue
I've had a similar issue with a bad mouse before. If you have another one around to try, that's easiest. My oldish laptop has a strange stutter in factorio that causes this as well. You can see the belts and everything stutter at the same time though. I suspect it's video driver related but havn't h...

Re: Friday Facts #129 - The late game
they are different lengths when vertical and horizontal. It is a fairly easy fix, mods have done it, but it needs to be done in vanilla itself. That's not an easy fix, and you can't create a mod to fix it. You would also need the source model to re-render all train sprites. Which the devs have, and...

Re: Weird request
Factorio's zip version runs just fine on a USB key, storing all it's files in the unzipped directory. Unfortunately at this time you CANNOT get a copy from the website if you purchased the steam version. They want to fix this in the future though. See here for more details: https://forums.factorio.c...

Re: Compact Red Green Science
It's compact, but i think it will have trouble running at full speed. The gear assembler only has a single red inserter for iron plates. Same for copper plates into the wire assembler.
I'm not sure, but I suspect that a single lane of copper and iron is also a bottleneck.

http://s7.postimg.org/mhlkzj0mh/multi.png newbie quesion : on this image from dee, on the chemical plant on the bottom, one petroleum input is apparently connected to water. Isn't it a problem ? The plant automatically refuses liquids that do not fit the requirement ? If it's true, that's a nice tr...

Re: Solar panels less of a no-brainer
Yet another idea to throw in about solar and upkeep. Solar panels get dusty in real life. A real solar plant requires some level of water usage for cleaning mirrors/panels/whatever. Depending on location, rain does some of this for you. In factorio, we could have pollution make the panels dirty, slo...

I get about 17 seconds to load. Reasonably fast laptop: SSD + i7 + intel 5500 graphics
edit: Adding WaiTex brings it up to about 25 seconds.

Re: How to balance main bus throughput priority?
I've personally started building my bases like this: Smelters-> large area for 'my stuff'-> surplus to science. I find the only thing that generally starves me for resources is science. So I've taken to leaving a somewhat large area where my iron and copper first meet. All the production of items th...

Re: When's the best time to start destroying nests?
Thank you, so I'll get my tank rolling. What do you think of victory poling? Seems pretty handy to me? It's very much a player preference thing. Many players find the combat 'too easy', me included. So I've been playing nearly the opposite. I never destroy a base that I don't need to. So there are ...

That's very odd.
The evolution factor should still increase with pollution, and with time. The only part you are preventing is killing spawners...
Can you post the number of hours in this game, and the evolution factor? Also any mods.

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth
I'm personally a big fan of the 'hopper' idea. Place a hopper over a belt, hopper can hold up to the inserter stack size bonus, will fill any empty belt spaces. So you still get/need to use inserters, but the stack bonus becomes more useful. Have the hopper a single item that can be placed on any sp...

Hey bob, I'd love to know where you can get this 90% efficient car lol. Re: Can't connect to my dedicated server
Suddenly it all makes sense. It's always worked for me because I always port forward UDP and TCP. It's just a habit. So the port checking would work for me, but not for anyone who only picks UDP.prg wrote:There are no open or closed UDP ports, that's only a TCP thing.

Strange. It's always worked for me if the server was running. I just tried, against this public server: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=13579
The IP listed there responded to my port check of 34197.
I don't have one running myself to check as I'm at work...

Re: Solar panels less of a no-brainer
I'm just another voice chiming in that solar is 'boring', but I don't know how to fix it either. More variety would help (wind - better power/footprint and more variable, etc.) I've personally taken to avoiding accumulators myself. Coal for nights, solar for days. I've also enjoyed building a split ...
