Console: font not Unicode, can't select/copy console
I ran into a problem with people from Russia joining our English server. When they type in Russian Cyrillic, it displays as blank spaces to me. All I can see are punctuation marks. Please use a universal Unicode console font that has symbol support from every possible language, whether Arabic, Telug...

Re: Need help with rail yard signals
Yes all trains enter from the top and leave from the bottom. After some more fooling around with it, yes apparently the trains sticking out too close to the intersection was causing the permanent red. Except the closest path near the entry rows is clear and green to pass, so what is the problem? The...

Need help with rail yard signals
I'm trying to make a very large rail yard. The upper right part at "A" with the main line and bypass around it works properly. But the spot at "B" does not work. I don't know how to set up these signals. I assume I need a signal for entering the rows, and the open row entry signa...

Re: Grief tracking: Bare ground reports item removal
Unplaced ghosted objects created by a blueprint but not actually deployed by the bots do not need tracking. They never really existed so removing them doesn't have the same effect as removing a belt or power line in a running system. Just need to retain any deleted object data "underneath"...

Re: Grief tracking: Bare ground reports item removal
I suppose someone could try writing a very simple mod for this, and see how it goes, if memory is a problem storing it directly in the game. Looking at the entity tree.... https://wiki.factorio.com/Modding Add a new branch under "EntityWithOwner" called DeletedObject, which does nothing. M...

Re: Grief tracking: Bare ground reports item removal
Eh, tile data for deleted objects does not even need to be part of the active map data held in memory. I run Minecraft servers with CoreProtect enabled. We log EVERY world block change, add or remove, for MONTHS. Doesn't affect Minecraft operation at all. All block logging data goes to an external S...

Re: Grief tracking: Bare ground reports item removal
I do not understand what you mean. The world already stores data for every tile, whether it is grass, water, etc.
Also it only needs to track the most recent removal, not a full history of all activity for every tile.

Grief tracking: Bare ground reports item removal
Currently there is a very annoying problem with Factorio where only placed objects will say who placed them. Bare ground where something has been removed reports no status information. The game should be changed so that anything that has been removed will leave behind a report when pointing at the b...

Re: Game mode: Cannot zoom out
It's not necessarily a thing of "liking", it's to add variety and challenge and difficulty for people bored with the standard gameplay.

Difficulty: Laser charge delay, biters destroy all poles
To increase the game difficulty, it should be possible to modify server behavior to make laser assaults on biters much harder to do: Add a construction delay option for poles and lasers, they don't just appear instantly when placed Add option that lasers need a short time (adjustable) to absorb powe...

Difficulty option: Cannot zoom out
For a really annoying map, allow servers to limit the zoom in/out. On a map where your only option is to stay fully zoomed in, battling bugs and avoiding trains becomes a heck of a hassle and ramps up the difficulty immensely. Also, allow an option for limiting the overview map zoom, for the same re...

Re: How about using it in the classroom?
The programming of the logic gates makes this potentially very valuable as an educational tool. In the USA, it seems difficult to get kids interested in programming, so this can be yet another tool to help make that happen, alongside Scratch, Alice, and Minecraft for Education. Difficulty: The autho...

Grief detection: tile placement/damage/removal logging?
I come from Minecraft, running about 8-10 public modpack servers with a large team of admins over the last several years ( Andromeda Network ), and looking at this game, multiplayer mode is basically like vanilla MC without any plugins..... the servers are near total anarchy. Sure, most people want ...

Oh, I see you have KWATRIJ already... Trying to contact the server admin for "LimbFlexArchery.co.uk" but there is no contact info in the server details.
"mastersofus" was also breaking belts, reversing belts, but I don't have screenshots of that.

Re: Ugh, multiplayer sucks
Is window redraw tied to the download tick rate? Normally in single player the game runs smooth as glass, but in multiplayer it was running at nearly a slideshow, about 10 frames per second or less. I rode a locomotive around the map for a while (couldn't get out of it) and the train leaps several m...

Ugh, multiplayer sucks
Hello, I'm new to Factorio, I've been doing the single-player for about 50 hours. Decided to try a big multiplayer map to see what happens. Ugh, that totally sucked. 1. On multiplayer map join, I suddenly start seeing a ton of Steam Achievements scrolling by. God dammit, now I will not be able to do...
