Re: What are some good ways to make the first ~4 hours of a Factorio game fun?
There is always that initial time of the game where you have to hand-feed your burners. It might be fun to figure out how to minimize the hand-feeding by crafting just enough iron to craft belts and inserters to take over delivering coal to the other burners. An experienced player can do this in a m...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
the base game is ridiculously easy. I chuckled at this having seen a recent post about someone that couldn't figure out that they need to put their science packs into a lab to progress on tech (after 8 hours of play). Not everyone has the kind of experience or education to assess the game as, "...

Re: An AI for Factorio?!
For me, I like playing games with AI when they are applied to the game as a concurrent measurement of your own performance. The AIs could have an objective or pick of multiple like in Civ or could be more esoteric like the populations in SimCity. and I don't see anything wrong with an AI being deter...

All this talk of elephants and Levenshtein's potato is a bit kooky. Come on! Repair packs and Rails should totally be a part of the fuzzy search results for uranium!

"more realistic" ... ugh. [...]real bullets are made with brass [..] um, no, er maybe? Although bullets can be encased in copper, Bullets are made with a wide variety of metals and other materials, mainly lead. Being able to craft them, along with the rest of the cartridge and magazine, at...

[...] there is a huge playerbase out there that doesn't just want a logistical problem solver. [...] That kind of statement always bothers me. I don't recognize your authority in that respect and challenge you to name a mere 25 of the "huge playerbase" that you are talking about. I'm ok w...

Re: auto drag roboport
until they increase the number of charging positions on the roboport, I do not like this idea; since I need to place roboports next to each other a lot more frequently than spreading them out over distances.

I think any version of this idea is good. It would be nice to have a tech/recipe planning tool in the base game.

Re: Coal Liquefication - how does it work?
I connected the heavy oil output pipes from all refineries and from that made one pipline back to the insert point of the refineries. When the output is full the refineries will stop. Try adding some heavy oil processing to reduce the excess heavy oil (for example: Solid Fuel) so the next output ha...

Re: 0.18 Power Graph display misleading due to inclusion of accumulators
2. Lowest accumulator value in selected time frame (in %): Allow me to see whether it is likely that my current set up is feasable for the next few base building steps, or if I'm close to blackout. This would be an interesting challenge to tackle for a mod. Personally, rather than seeing those valu...

I like the GUI update. But no GUI is perfect, and can't suit everyone. Although I prefer the dark mode and don't mind the grid as is, The feedback is good.

This will never happen. You're going to have to create a new paradigm to replace the, "lots of trains on the same schedule" methodology.

Re: Roboport with radar function for minimap
The roboport is usually at the top of my list of power consumers. I'd rather have the roboport have the ability to reduce its power consumption. Adding a feature making it use more energy doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

I like the flattening of the design by sinking the building slightly into the ground. Dare I suggest thinking about doing the same thing to the Roboport?

I wonder if localization is important here. Are we just catering to those that use commas in their numbers? Or are we asking to reconfigure numbers based on localization rules?

Re: [0.18.12] unable to empty fluid wagon
I've experienced this sort of behavior before too. But was able to get it to work by trying the other positions (you have 6 on each side). For pumps, half of the 6 positions only seem to work. I used to be concerned but after being satisfied with one pump working I moved on.

Re: Optimization idea: abstraction
You could just perform the initial calculation on the first time the area is a given distance from vision and that would be it. Reusing that data afterwards would be trivial. I was hoping to have an academic discussion about your idea of abstraction, and how we could use it to optimize the game. It...
