Re: Version 0.12.21
Why stable version is still 0.12.20 on Factorio Download site, while 0.12.21 is experimental? 0.12.21 still has to prove itself, there may have been some bugs which haven't shown themselves yet, but If all goes well it should be declared the stable build hopefully soon Does Devs have any specific p...

Re: Come and guess: Stable version of the 0.12
Also I kept adding bugs until 0.12.20 was there and then stopped. :-)Cordylus wrote:Cube's guess was too late to be fair.

Re: [0.12.19][cube] 'Trying to make chunk at unreasonable positi
We couldn't reproduce the error, but we fixed a very suspicious piece of code that could have caused this. So it's fixed for 0.12.21, and report it again if it isn't :)

Re: Building a portable pc to play Factorio input needed.
Factorio is mainly limited by video RAM size (especially with mods, bare minimum for vanilla is 512MB), and then much later CPU speed and maybe RAM size. If you don't plan to run huge saves, then almost any half recent PC or laptop is good enough. By the way, Alekthefirst started collecting benchmar...

Re: Friday Facts #112 - Better noise
Can you clarify what you mean by "complete noise"? How is it obtained from the original hash function? The new noise is similar to Simplex noise in this: The hash is used to select one of predefined gradient vectors in each cell vertex, then dot product of the gradient vector and position...

Re: [0.12.15] [cube] Multiplayer error
Something is wrong at your end. Your Factorio is receiving invalid packets from several IP addresses (in both logs). The way Factorio handles these now is not optimal (it shouldn't crash for sure), but It is a too large change to fix it for 0.12., if you expect your computer to be bombarded by rando...

Re: [0.12.15 -0.12.16] [cube] Map generate code
The problem here is an extra newline character between the closing "<" characters. Delete it and the string will work.
In 0.12.18 we will ignore all spaces inside the exchange string.

Re: Friday Facts #112 - Better noise
It means that when determining the properties for a point on the map the algorithm can't look at e.g. adjacent points to determine what properties the new point has; instead it must base its calculations only on the seed and parameters given initially. This rules out generating maps based on proced...

Guys, do you know that the whole noise thing is supposed to be only performance improvement? At this stage, at least.

Hi, thanks for the report, but could you please also copy the map exchange string in here? I really don't feel like typing it from the screenshot :)

Re: [12.12]Can´t start Headless Server
Headless binaries are only 64bit. We generally want to slowly move from 32bit builds (because they cause some extra problems), and thought that headless releases are a perfect candidate for a first step. If your machine has X libraries, you can use the regular 32bit binares (they will run exactly th...

Re: [OS X] [bluecube] Broken update 0.12.10 to 0.12.16
Sorry for this problem. Parts of the updating code was broken in 0.12.9 and 0.12.10, which means that people with these versions (on osx, and to a smaller extent on windows) won't be able to update automatically. So please just download the whole package from website. I've removed the update from th...
