Re: Should the same seed always give the exact same map?

Yes. I'm asking if, for a mod, it would be acceptable for gameplay decisions to lead to maps developing differently. In the simple examples I gave the resource type or quantity would change. In a more complex case of a dynamically generated maze the actual maze could change depending on the order i...

Re: Friday Facts #279 - Train GUI & Modern Spitter

I hate to be that person but ... January is almost over and there is no 0.17. I don't care about mods and I play vanilla only, every new update I have a new motivation to replay the game all over again. Sadly this time the promised 0.17 release is very hurtful, stated as January but clearly, it's n...

Re: Factorio annotated roadmap - 0.17+

Simply put, I could not figure out what rock produced, and how crystals work in AngelBobSpaceX in several days. Suspecting that rock is somehow an input to somehow crystals, and looking it up, should be a 2 minutes generated chart lookup at most, not a 7-ingredients-or-outputs deep kept track on pa...

I know what post you are referring to and I reported it as being needlessly inflammatory and completely off-topic.
Hey now, don't bring facts and context in here. It messes with his persecution narrative.

Re: Friday Facts #266 Censorship/Moderation Behaviour

Mods on this forum have steel nerves. And you managed to escalate it up to Wube guys themselves. I would say - calm down and stop this. Your ideas or your personal opinion is not the pinnacle of human thinking so just get on with it. People get your point from one post and if they do not accept it ...

In the current system there is 100% no reason to crack coal into energy. It's energy negative, after all. If there's no value to crack coal into energy, then there's no value in using the heavy or light oil byproducts for energy. You're wasting your time and better off using straight coal, obviousl...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

I have over 2000 hours in Factorio, and I'm in favour of the pickaxe removal. As a 1400hr player (most in Angel-Bob's or Seablock), I agree . It adds nothing to vanilla, and little to Bob's (imo). I haven't played stoneage and most of the other mods brought up, so I can't say how relevant it is the...

Just rename the research "Personal Tool Optimization".

You're not carrying around a pick axe. Instead, you've got an omni-tool, extractor, and micro-fabricator.

If you're interested in seablock without angel/bob's complexity you can try Basic Seablock

Re: "Big power" options, low UPS hit

Can I ask we move the "best design for a nuclear power reactor" discussion to a different thread? The whole point of this thread is to look for alternatives to nuclear power that have similar characteristics. You've got 3 options: Steam engines, solar, and nuclear. You don't like solar, a...

There's a mod that will do something similar to that. I pretty much need it to not crash into everything.

Re: Requesting barrels and items in same station

How do I fool the station into believing it has say 10 times more barrels than it really has. That sounds like a really bad idea that could very easily backfire. I want to say a better option is to use the request/provide thresholds to ensure a proper delivery size. Request Threshold (optional) - M...

There's a check box for "Trees and rocks only" that should do what you want.

Re: Items getting stuck in station inserters.

Encoded position Wagon Mk1 + Encoded Position Wagon Mk2 = Encoded Position of vanilla wagon. Similarly use another arithmetic with Mk3+ Mk4 = vanilla and all 5 will work. I guess I'm confused as well. Can you go into more detail about what this is actually doing? Is it a bitwise AND operation on en...

Re: Depot(s) question

Sounds like the solution you're looking for is to separate trains into different networks. Encoded Network ID - Binary coded signal assigning a stop to specific networks. (defaults to 0xFFFFFFFF = all networks) Deliveries are only generated when between Depot, Provider, Requester within the same net...

Re: Question about Auto Trashing.

By default, when you add an item to the auto trash, it sets a number to keep and will only auto trash items above that threshold. So if you auto trash them all, set that number to 0.

Might look into electric trains: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/ElectricTrain

What I usually end up doing is having fuel inserters set up where the trains drop off cargo and add an inactivity condition, iirc. Been a while since I've used non-LTN trains.

(even though we need blue science for bots...shhhh) You don't, actually. Technically, no, but they do require Advanced Circuits (plastic) and Electric Engines (Lubricant), while blue science requires Advanced Circuits. So they're unlocked at basically the same time. Not counting personal roboport w...
