Re: Final (Maxed) Designs
when there is more possibilites in the game, why we should constrain our approach into one model? The one criteria I've stated for this post is that a max design include at least one input or output that is maxed out (40 items on a blue belt or 60 units in a pipe). Ok, i see the point. Anyway, if y...

Re: Final (Maxed) Designs
Efficiency modules have no impact on "Final (Maxed) Designs," since it doesn't impact throughput. Whether an Assembler 3 has 4 efficiency modules or 0, the throughput will be the same. (I'm not arguing against their use. Just stating that their use has no impact regarding this thread). Al...

Re: Final (Maxed) Designs
From what I've seen, 4x productivity module + 2x speed module in 8 beacons/assembler nets the best energy/item ratio. The idle consumption though is pretty nuts. Obviously not in many cases. You can take a material consumption statistic of rocket parts for example. https://wiki.factorio.com/Rocket_...

Re: Final (Maxed) Designs
There are two ways obviously: 1) product modules + speed modules in beacons 2) efficiency modules and no other way. One can use a combination 3 efficiency + 1 speed at assembly machine since you are limited by 20% in energy consumption. I think that your whole factory should have some parts oriented...

Re: Final (Maxed) Designs
@MBas: Yes, it is well known that the combination of sp3 (in beacons) and prod3 (in plants) gives very good results. What made you think I was arguing otherwise? We both try to optimize different factors. My goal is to reach minimum energy consumption per production, your goal is to reach minimum n...

Re: Final (Maxed) Designs
...And frankly, any non-beacon design are boring/trivial because there are no space constraints. You can set yourself a constraint or opt to aim for the most compact design possible, but I prefer using beacons everywhere so the beacon cost and range limit creates a real optimization problem. The ut...

I use it for my personal watch.
I agree that there is no reason for repetetive synchronizing. I just use it for "control" that there is no fake tick per day or per month or something

Re: Square shaped designs
- Can you 'tile' the plastic production so they share beacons? You would probably have to reroute the coal somehow Well its complicated. First of all, you probably dont need more than two of this pieces. But this is not the main argument. Its complicated becouse the express belts are allready on it...

Hello. If you are also fan of non-line but squared designs, here is some examples. Feel free to share your creations if you have also some square-shaped parts of factory. Plastic boy Output: 4608 plastic / minute This little baby satisfy about 63% of all plastic requirements of 1-minute rocket facto...

Square Root & Log Calculator
1. Square Root Need a square root? Here is a simple solution. Since all signals are integers, there is just some rounding error. Just follow this instructions: Input value must be set as signal I (placed in constant combinator). There also must be signal O set as 1 (it is important to keep this val...

Re: Balanced Ordering Service
Hmm, that trick how to change sign via another signals by integer overflow is interesting . However, your solution cant drop anything from final chest. And your stack inserter work about 1/3 - 1/2 speed since it take items from the floor. But its still very good.

Hello. You have to start with: what your clock should show? There is dozens of clocks. If you need simple tick counter, see https://wiki.factorio.com/Combinator_Tutorial , namely "basic clocks". If you want to read in-game time (related to day-dawn-night-dusk) you can use my version of pre...

I must say that only one reason for 4 inserters is just becouse it looks nice :D (well, maybe not so becouse its not fully symetric). However i dont like using stack inserters for fast operations between machines and belts (i use it for machine-machine tranports only). Stack inserters remains freeze...

Re: Adv. circuit "sphere"
What is the point of looping the advanced circuits? I use this kind of output quite plenty. There is no harm on funcionality and it works as illustrative indicator of processing. The measure of "red" on the belt indicates how much is it going. There are dozens of better checks, however th...
