Re: Update using too much bandwidth
The problem is that the updater does a sequential update. Like this: 16.1 -> 16.2 -> 16.3 -> 16.4 -> 16.5 -> 16.6 Better would be if it would do a direct: 16.1 -> 16.6 update. The issue with this is that there would have to be an update process for every version to update from that specific version...

Re: We can not dig out landfill
to the best of my knowledge, they only keep one copy of the map, so they dont have an original map to go back to, to compare and determine what is original vs what you have edited. I do like the idea of building "docks" over water, rather than or in addition to landfills. that would be an ...

sprite based graphics. they will always look pixelated because they are, in fact, made from individual pixels.
im not sure how much post processing they do on the video card, mine is normally idle during play, so i imagine they are not using it to do AA or FXAA, etc.

Re: Pipes are underused because they block movement
I find that using squeak through doesn't make me use more pipes, so it isn't just the pathing that matters. I still lay belts everywhere, and don't use underground constantly, but I still constantly use underground pipes. I don't actually know why..... the same reason i dont use normal pipes. 1. th...

Re: 0.17 Hype?
I think Kerbal Space Program, Factorio and other things like it, is basically like crayons. I can eat the crayons or create pictures and tons of other stuff, but it's not a game. So you want me to be hyped for them changing the way my crayons look, when I'm not running into huge problems with the c...

i no longer play without mods. the best i can tell you right off, is use most of bobs modes WITHOUT the new complexity mods. IE do NOT use ores, fluids, electronics or modules. this is my current mod list, and i find the flow extremely easy going and not an issue for spaghetti: air-filtering (anti p...

i would like to see the bugs turned back into an alien tech level, with an entire alien research tree. however, it could be balanced by having it only modify existing tech, not create a whole bunch of new items. for instance, alien research could speed up belts, inserters, it could make fuels more e...

i think its a mod that allows landfill to replace terrain with grass. it would be a good idea to allow it to replace cliffs with its underlying tile type for those that want to terraform.

i would make electric boiler a factor of electric chemical processors to create steam at a location without the use of coal for chemical processing. Helps with density.

Re: Underground belt lane splitting, anyone else hate it?
I don't think current splitters should do that. Instead there should be a special lane splitter belt. A simple T piece where one belt enters and each side of the belt goes out in a different direction. There is no mechanical arms like in the current splitter required to split the sides. I agree. I ...

Re: Difficulty curve and how to keep players till end game
Well you can handcraft refineries. So technically you don't need yellow assemblers to make them. This. And unless you are going for a megafactory (most new players don't), you don't need that many of them. Seems kind of pointless to set up autocrafting of an item you will not use more then a hand f...

Re: Difficulty curve and how to keep players till end game
oil needs to be addressed, as well as the gap between blue and yellow factories. the big issue is that they compound against each other. you need yellow factories to make refineries. but you need oil to make yellow. one you get oil, you are once again left with a new situation. you produce something...

the fluid dynamics thread has more detail, but basically fluid tanks act as giant pipes they are at the same level as normal pipes, so percent full is the same at the tank as every pipe after comes into play. basically as the tank drains past 50% there is only 50% of a pipe feeding the next pipe. af...

unintuitive, as i need to place a chain signal first, and not a signal. to me a chain signal, should be, well, chained to another, not the other way around. also right of way is not immediately grasped by many people. we tend to think of tracks as pass/no pass, and not as "oncoming traffic, lea...

im of the belief that everyone should be exposed to, and learn to properly use vulgarities as the situation allows. im completely against casual censorship.
to me censoring is a last resort to prevent the point being lost, and is never done preemptively.

about 300 hours in. fluids are still the worst for me. what do pumps actually do? how far can they "pull" a liquid? what level of pressure do tanks provide? if i use mods that have large and small capacity pipes, which are better when, and why ? do fluids have viscosity? how much? what doe...

those are all dead trees. if you want to keep the look, need to turn off pollution damage to trees in the map options.
