Re: Inserter Problems

I usually walk around going "Why isn't this backed up? I need to find the source of this!"
Or "Ah, now everything is backed up nicely. I can add in another 4 labs and break everything again."

Re: Struggling with train station layout / signals

Have a look at this thread. It's got some different rail network designs. It's a very good idea to have a two-line system with loops at junctions to allow trains to pass through without the system clogging. And getting a standardised station setup is a huge help because it keeps everything super nea...

Re: Factorio Lore

I think a core part of any Factorio lore should be the loneliness. This guy is the only human on the entire planet with millions of biters and worms to fend off, and somehow he has to build an entire infrastructure there. The guy is obviously an absolute tech whizz, so maybe he just hops from planet...

Maybe just put bypasses on the most used part(s) of the circle?

Re: [0.10.x] Worms invincible while shooting

I've noticed this too.
I imagine that the reason is that the death animation starts in an upright position, so the worm must finish it's attack to return to that position so the animation can start, otherwise it would be seen suddenly jerking upright when killed.

Re: [0.10.8] Trains cannot path to a station "behind" them

It would make less sense to have the train on the back as the one that lines up with the station, and any position of that train that you want to achieve can be achieved using the current system. Therefore, it's not a bug.

Re: Let the Steam Engines explode when overloaded for too lo

Maybe it could be part of a hardmode or something?
Or perhaps you have to pick an option on the engine to allow overclocking?
OR water temperature can go above 100 degrees which then causes damage?

That's not a bug, they have the station on the wrong side.

Re: Struggling with train station layout / signals

I've got part 2 of 3 half done now, and I've covered all the basic signal uses I can think of. The problem is that there are so many different setups that can be done that I'll always miss something.

Also a train may not pass a signal on it's left unless there is also one on it's right, I believe.

Re: Struggling with train station layout / signals

Make sure the stations and signals are all on the right side, putting the on the left is a common cause of no path errors.
Also, maybe you'll get some help from this guide here: http://imgur.com/a/zG13U#0
I've been using it to help me put together the signal tutorial.

Re: Struggling with train station layout / signals

No, that's my fault. I like to make sure I have a complete understanding of a system before doing a tutorial, and signals are such a complex thing that I'm still getting the hang of certain aspects. I'm getting there though, and I've got a pretty cool system with 4 stations and 5 trains running on i...

Re: Struggling with train station layout / signals

Try moving up the signal that should have been red to after where those two pieces of track met. With that slightly weird loop you've got there might be a gap that means the whole system is one block or something. Try moving signals around and seeing what happens and you should get a better feel for...

Re: The Romanesque Factory

This is glorious! All my work with trains pales in comparison to this! I'm going to go right now and start massively upgrading my stations. My hope is to build a shunting yard that I can actually make use of, but I think until we get multiplayer and we have different players specialising and needing...

Re: New and need some information about factorio

In tier 3, you can't specifically name an object. What it means is that if you give them your name then it will be added to a pool of names which is drawn from randomly every time a lab, train, train station, and more is built. When such a building is moused over it will say "dedicated to [your...

When you select power armour it opens a menu where you can slot in the shields, solar panels, laser defence etc, all of which must be researched.
