Or if we could have a separate building for barreling, that would work like a furnace. Depending on what you put into the furnace you get a different output.
Barreling could work the same - use barrels as "fuel" and then transform input into barreled state.

Launched the 0.15 yesterday for an hour after a tough Monday at work - it really made my day.
Thank You.

Re: Getting rid of alien artifacts is a bad idea
I like the idea of no artifacts and fully agree with the aliens holding the most valuable resource - land. Biters are still valuable, as they force you to maintain defenses. They will grow over time and if you don't pay attention, they will ultimately overwhelm you. For me, chasing after bases and a...

[0.15.1] Menu bug, keyboard not responsive
This happens only on high sprite resolution. If I go down to normal, it works fine.
On my i5 with HD4600 menus look like this and the keyboard is completely unresponsive. I had to switch to windowed mode to make the screenshot.
On my other machine with GF 750Ti it works fine.

Are there any new terrain types considered for .15 or .16? I thought it was mentioned somewhere, that some "fake cliffs", like in early C&C series would be added eventually...

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.15 + 0.16
I don't want to argue the quality of Paradox's work. The business model is what is interesting and driving the development of the game for 5 years+. Releasing DLCs is not that different from making the game in the first place - it's selling the ideas. From customer's point of view I think it's bette...

Re: 1.0 without endgame?
We have some plans for DLC, or a free update Nothing is set in stone, but we have a lot ideas for factorio content that would that would fit nicely in something like an expansion pack or a 1.1 release I know the subject of DLCs might be controversial, however if done correctly, this could extend th...

Re: Friday Facts #169 - Combat revisit 2
I don't see how building blocking zerg creep/corruption is inelegant or why it feels like cheating. It worked in starcraft. It would need to spread pretty far from the hives to prevent the player from safely sniping the hives with rockets from their little turret base. Build times won't stop turret...

Good FFF!
It's nice that you mentioned rockets - I find it weird that it has shorter range than Tank cannon... It could be the ultimate weapon against nests, if the range was buffed and damage was proportional to cost.
You are definitely getting a nomination from me!

Yes, lets turn Factorio into farming simulator by implementing Biter herding and Nest growing. Making robots act like sheep dogs will create full Factorio Farmer experience.

I just got a bunch of achievements after playing with mods. Actually I wanted to turn them off to actually play vanilla to get them... I didn't even had to reload a save - as soon as I turned off the mods, Factorio and Steam "synchronized" - all achievements that I got before turning off t...

Holy crap, 34 megabytes of memory! With that you could store the entirety of Doom 1 and 2 and still have 8MB to spare. That's seriously impressive! Next challenge: Port Doom 1 and 2 to Factorio circuit network. :D How about porting... Factorio into Factorio circuit network? ;) Indefinite Factorio.....

Re: Wood
I second this.
At the beginning of the game, you don't have anything to organize your base neatly with paths and and walls and you have to wait for stone stuff, which will take some time to research, while you carry tons of wood.

Re: No graphics card needed
I'm able to run Factorio on an old 2007 Dell Precision M6300 laptop with NVIDIA Quadro® FX 1600M 256MB and it runs OK-ish. Not great, but playable. I never played it longer than a couple of hours on business trips, so I can't say how the end game would feel (probably not too great), but if the quest...
