Re: Increase player reach for things you can do with blueprints

Couldn't one also argue that placing a power pole, placing a power-pole ghost, and placing a power-pole blueprint, are essentially the same action?

I thought you could drag-and-drop. Isn't that what the bumpy-looking part on the right of the train stop header is for?

The way to prevent being sad at fundamental changes to a game in Beta, is to not play a game in Beta. If you can't handle base-destroying changes don't play versions of a game that may have base-destroying changes.

Re: A few suggestions

Some of these ideas already exist in mods. For others, you might want to post something explaining what's fun about the idea; not everything here strikes me as fun. Here are a few thoughts... 1. Add limits to how much power can be transferred between electric poles (e.g. Small Pole: 10 MW, Medium Po...

Re: Purchasing game from website

Also, you get a complete copy of the game, and you never need to be connected except to download updates. Also, you can download any version of the game from the current 0.18.x experimental all the way back to 0.6.4. So I guess it depends on what you mean by DRM, but if you mean "the ability to...

Re: Purchasing game from website

If you buy from GOG, you can still register on the Factorio web site and download updated versions. I don't know whether GOG gets the experimental versions or not, but I bought the game from GOG originally and I'm on the experimental versions after I registered on factorio.com. Of course, I expect t...

Re: Factorio 1.0 Launch Special Edition

I'm happy to pay the developers more for some kind of DLC or extras. Like a lot of people, I feel that what I paid for the game is embarrassingly low considering the hundreds (thousands?) of hours of entertainment I got out of it. But this specific suggestion is not a good one, because players alrea...

Re: Meaningful Content Update

Sure, people can criticize America because they love the ideal it represents. But they can also criticize America because they just plain can't stand it. (I should know; as an expat American, I do it all the time.) Go back and read what you wrote here, out loud, to yourself, and then ask yourself wh...

Re: Meaningful Content Update

I'm not trying to make a "huge stink" just using the forums to discuss things. It's kinda what they are for... If you say so...but given the number of criticisms you've leveled at the game, one wonders why you still bother to take an interest in it. Especially as you seem to have no inter...

Re: Criticism of the 0.18.32 fluid mixing changes.

Surely those who are saying "People do this in real life" are not really saying that in real life crude oil and petroleum and water and other kinds of fluids are all mixed together in the same pipe system, with no separation, at the same time? I can see it being the case where there are di...

Re: New Achievement Ideas

When will the devs add more achievements? There aren't nearly enough. There needs to be at least 200. I've seen Steam games with that many achievements and more. If Factorio had achievements the way many Steam games do, the achievement list would end up looking like this: Build an assembly machine ...

Re: Suggestion to change Whitelist/Blacklist terms

Will it bother us while playing, if it is blocklist and allowlist instead? Not me. While changing the terms for virtue-signaling purposes would strike me as quite silly, "blocklist" and "allowlist" might be more clear to people than "blacklist" and "whitelist.&quo...

Re: [0.18.29] Task completed sound and alert plays when only 47/50 sectors are scanned

Why do you think this is a bug? Seems to me it's indicating that you're getting close. It doesn't say the task is complete, and it doesn't take away the status window in the upper-left, until the task is actually complete. You may find it confusing and prefer something different, but I don't see why...

There’s no rule in the world how many software levels can exist. There’s no such rule "either safe, or in the fire". We can have a third intermediate level. It is possible to be half-washed and half-wet. If you don’t want to, there also are other people. You are selfish and inflexible. I'...

Not to mention that just because there's a new experimental version doesn't mean you're obligated to update to it.

Nothing prevents anyone, in the "Would you like to update now?" box, from checking "No."

It being owned by Microsoft is one reason; GitLab being a better open-source citizen is another.
Please spell it out for us. Why is the fact that GitHub is owned by Microsoft a reason to avoid GitHub?
