I think it's safe to say that learning from ChatGPT is at best ill-advised :).
One could say the same about randos from the internet. :)

Re: save data space age

So I probably missed this or something but in space age can you use one of your current saves of factorio and continue from there or do you have to start from scratch Keep in mind that you can install the game from a .zip file. So if you have saves you're attached to, you can install 1.1 in one dir...

Re: Would it be possible to make it harder to take off armor?

I swear sometimes people have a microphone listening to office conversations. 3 days ago I changed it so the game won’t let you manually remove your armor if it would spill items and then this post gets bumped from 2021 about the same topic. Anyway, for 2.0 the game won’t let you manually remove yo...

Re: stop rendering in the backround

i would like for the game to stop rendering the world if it is not visible. Are you saying the game does this if it's paused? Or do you mean you're just letting the game run in the background unpaused while you're doing something else? If the latter, well, to me it kind of makes sense that the devs...

Re: Refineries are only producing light oil

Are your refineries only producing light oil, or is it just that they're full of light oil?

If they produce all three products but the light oil has nowhere to go, then they'll remain stuck until you can move the light oil somewhere else.

Re: Don't spill inventory when power armor is held in mouse

...and preventing you from removing if your inventory is filled prevents intentional removal of the armour. Right, but remember the question I asked: Does anybody really ever intend to remove their armor without replacing it with a different armor? My feeling is: No, nobody ever does this on purpos...

Re: The Blueprint Hub

I like the "local, small scale" sharing, like if my friend and I play together, comparing our builds through our blueprints, "Here, take this chemplant blueprint, and I'll take your beaconed furnace array", or whatever. What I don't like, is to make things so easy, so convenient...

Re: The Blueprint Hub

Please don't vote no just because someone wants to have fun in a different way with an accessibility feature. This will have a more widespread effect than you think. Sure, I can decide in my own one-player game not to use other people's blueprints. But in a multiplayer game, it's that much more lik...

Upon reflection, I like the original names (including "Legendary") as I find the alternatives pretty boring.

"Legendary" sounds much more enticing to me than "Perfect."

Re: Friday Facts #419 - Display Panel & Inserter pickup fixes

For the inserter missing items problem... I had this problem years ago with burner inserters. Here's the thought I had back then... I think the inserter movement speed is fine as-is, but they should detect upcoming items on the previous belt segment so they have time to line-up to grab the items. T...

Re: Friday Facts #419 - Display Panel & Inserter pickup fixes

I'm glad there aren't ugly scanlines or lense flares on the Display Panel. Am I correct that Remote View removes the ugly scanline "vignette" currently on the map view? (I hacked the shader to remove it years ago, so actually I have no idea if it still exists. But I assume it isn't gone y...

Re: Rail-like smooth wall building.

What do you mean "horizontally or vertically"? Also not that dynamic, wouldn't simple segment fragments make do? They could also use some "look at" time, the shadows don't match with sun position guessed from other buildings as well (just like oil refinery and so on). The way be...

The screens feel a bit too clean for me, which is a little immersion-breaking. All the machines have a patina; surely these screens should have a few little dings and scratches?
Or better yet, big cracks across them like everybody's mobile phone. Mod idea?

Re: Factorio price

I agree completely. I paid $20 for Factorio back in 2016, and I quickly found the price I paid embarrassingly low for what I got. $35 for the expansion is a bargain. And that's just talking about the base game. Given the number of mods people have donated their time to make, it's hard to imagine run...
