Re: Train tutorials aren't teaching signal use
Exactly. Explain the simple uses for a single train station or a simply single lane cross over (X). Explain how the chain signal on the entry to the X prevents trains from getting stuck on the X.

Re: liquid filtering for pumps, tanks and wagons
I think fluid wagons need to be brought down or tanks brought up. A tank takes up 3x3 = 9 m^2 while a fluid wagon takes up 2x6 = 12 m^2 but holds as much as 3 tanks (27 m^2). And a tank should be higher than a fluid wagon (or even build into the ground) while a fluid wagon also has the wagon part u...

Re: "Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!
As for catalysts: Aren't modules catalysts? Just add 40 module slots to the centrifuge, make the speed without modules 0 and have each module slot add 1/40 of the old speed. That does not sound too bad either, and it would allow to start right away, but should still be reaaaally slow with low amoun...

Re: "Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!
Oh no, no catalysts, please :| Kovarex process as it working now is very fun to automate. True, it is not looking like anything else in the game, but this is the point. It is boring to automate the same processes with different names. We have regular production cycles, we have liquid production cyc...

Re: Underground Rail
A long slope would be perfect actually if it would be combined with long bridges / tunnels. 1) Simple cross roads would be far simpler since they don't need the slope so bridges would not make cross roads obsolete. 2) Long bridges/tunnels would allow crossing larger factories parts or water with the...

Re: liquid filtering for pumps, tanks and wagons
I mean, yeah, you could do that, but then what's the point in having a fluid wagon? They are pretty and have a cool fill animation? Barrels need to be nerfed to bring them down to the fluid wagon and pipe level as suggested here: Barrels hold too much liquid. but you already know about that because...

Re: liquid filtering for pumps, tanks and wagons
Just use barrels? Can be filtered More fluid per cargo wagon (100K vs 75K) Single cargo wagon can carry any mixed load of fluid barrels you want Better throughput on yellow belts vs pipes (200K LpM vs 72K LpM) Can be upgraded to red or blue if needed (vs pipes with no upgrade path) Can be carried b...

Re: "Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!
I found a very attractive setup - only - I don't understand how it works. And to understand, its what is all about: https://youtu.be/UcWJH48ZpX0 Probably one of the masters will step in? That does not look all too good, and quite slow with re-filling. You can just take mine from my previous post, i...

Train tutorials aren't teaching signal use
I liked the new tutorials in 0.15 that pop up mid game. The track building is educational and fine. But then I checked the signal tutorials and was rather disappointed. They are more like a quiz checking if you understand signals already instead of explaining how they work or teaching how to use sig...

Re: Need a way to empty out pipes
if the whole pipe is flooded.just attach a pump and a storage tank to the pipe and u can suck it out. Though that gets problematic if theres a mixed bunchof liquids in the pipe, (eg 1 segment water, then oil, then water, etc..)then your better of tearing it down and starting over ;P I tried sucking...

Re: how do YOU manage barrels of oil?
With the advent of rail tankers I only do local barreling for logistic bot use. I do not transport barrels by rail. A working example of this. Train delivers petro to my main base and is offloaded to tank in proximity. Petro is canned and output inserters monitor X amount of canned petro in network...

Re: liquid filtering for pumps, tanks and wagons
Good idea. But how would that work with fluid wagons that are split? How do you know which of the three pumps to activate?
Or wagons supposed to contain one fluid but that are empty at the moment? How do you stop filling them with the wrong thing?

And here I was thinking that the water temperature was useless since now you only have water and steam and no way to heat water. Silly me.

Re: Optimized Steam Engine Setup
I noticed that one heat exchanger isn't enough for 2 turbines. Has anyone figured out the perfect ratio and pipe setup? 1 Heat Exchanger requires 10 MW / 5.8 MW = 1.72 Steam Turbines..., 4 Heat Exchangers require 6.9 Steam Engines... so there surely is a sweetspot somewhere for those who want perfe...

Need a way to empty out pipes
The other day I played with my oil refinery and got the water pipe and the light oil pipes cross connected. Water flooded into the light oil pipes since the light oil was all used up and the whole plant was ruined. There seems to be no good way to remove the wrong liquid from some pipe other than re...

liquid filtering for pumps, tanks and wagons
It would be nice if one could set pumps to only pump a specific liquid. It really sucks when your water wagon stops at the oil refinery at the wrong place and the water gets pumped into the crude oil pipes or something. Similar it would be nice if tanks and wagons could be set to only accept a speci...

Re: Optimized Steam Engine Setup
With the new boilers one can't pack them like before to use every single coastal tile.
But now one can put water into fluid wagons or barrels.
So has anyone tried playing with that? Build a power plant in the middle of nowhere and supply it with water by belt or train?
