Some criteria to feed into the algorithm:
  • how the license was bought
  • how old the account is

Re: Friday Facts #322 - New Particle system

I say, why stop at two kinds of entities? Why limit yourselves to normal entities and particle entities? What if there was two kinds of particles, ones that do affect gameplay and those that are pure eye candy?

Next up: make construction bots bulk build anything. It's a rather obvious idea: once one target is found, scan the area around it for identical targets.

The suggestion to sign the executable is three years old now. Not exactly a lot of time to get it done, I know, but surely they could've done it by now?

Re: Version 0.17.60

I think that this is an attempt to solve a real problem. But it ended up exposing some deeper problems while not really solving the target problem. There are two problems here: the other oil products being at best limited use and the big bump in production chain complexity. Oil can be complicated. T...

Re: Vote to Kick/Ban

A simple vote ban is enough. If the majority of the players on a server no longer wants to play with someone, then they clearly don't want to play together. To counter greifers calling votes, make it so that repeated vote bans eventually force either the target or the caller out of the server. If th...

Vote ban

Let players vote out people they don't like. Such as griefers. Let the server owner disable it if they don't like it.

Am I strange for calling science packs "flasks"?

And to me some of the questions have grammar problems with all but one answer. What does a VERBer do? Why, it VERBs of course! A pump pumps, an inserter inserts. It's in their names.

Re: [0.16.39] search is case-sensitive for russian language

It's wrong to convert case for comparisons. Greek for example has an upper case letter that corresponds to two different lower case letters. And german has a letter that expands to two letters when it turns to upper case.

Blueprint duplication

When I pick a prepared blueprint/deconstruction planner from the blueprint screen I get a new item in my inventory. If I then hit Q to dismiss it, possibly after using it, it is dropped into my inventory. This is tolerable. The issue is then when I fetch a new item from the blueprint screen. I get a...

They actually discussed floats and portability somewhere. I've misplaced the link, sorry. But they did mention that trig functions are not part of the IEEE spec and are nonportable. So they made their own ones.

In the paraphrased words of a Microsoft engineer: each crash dump is a vote for the bug. And in my words again: it is your civic duty to vote for the bugs you want fixed.

I take it that just using Windows error reporting wasn't an option? It's so good that Microsoft gives it away to all Windows developers for free (*). They even published a nice paper that I recommend that everyone in this thread read . It's not long and you don't need programming skills (or math ski...
