Re: 2^x vs y*10^x

base ten is a stupid system when everything we do is in base 2, and is only converted to base 10, because us stupid humans understand it 'better'. Since when we do anything in base 2 on a common basis ? That's only for thoses who deal with drivers or who realize processors. They are highly qualifie...

Re: Hidden ores

By "safe" I mean that there is less entry point for a cavern than for an open air thing. I do think the pollution don't bother the engineer given he have a life supporting suit anyway. It's more that it seem harder to modelize the fume going on twisting small passages than in open air. (I ...

Re: Hidden ores

My first thought with underground cavern is "easy to defend factory !".

Of course, you don't have solar panel underground. Also, how would work pollution ?

My irony meter may be broken, but I am very sure that youngster aren't learning ^2 things before their 16 at the very least. It's not even used all that much now outside of speciality trades.

Re: 2^x vs y*10^x

Hint: We're people who are around binary all day. I think this game attracts a lot of people in fields where base 2 is something that is used regularly, and thus more natural. I myself am in electrical engineering, I'm familiar and fluent with both systems, as digital systems design and programming...

Re: Friday Facts #37

Regardless, my point is, 2^x makes more sense, it will always make more sense because it's logical and natural. Buildings rotate clockwise. Why? Because it feels natural. Belts transport 2 items next to each other. Not 1.25 items. Chests have 16, 32 and 48 spots respectively, even when the hud is 1...

Re: 2^x vs y*10^x

It's hard to understand why exactly people like the 2^x old system from my point of view. It would make sense if the numeration system were in base 2 (or 4 or 8 or 16), but the standard is 10, which make arithmetic with 2^x a lot more awkward, all that for no benefit I can see.
