Re: Is that piece of junk toy rocket an atomic bomb ???!
The nuclear explosion is pretty cool (kill behemots and everything in default world options) in a radius of about 36 meters (if 1 tile = 1 meter). But I think this is the kind of feature you test once and enjoy it, but never use it again because it's way too expensive. Before I test it, I expected t...

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0
Some thoughts about the new changes: 1) Underground belts length: I think the 4-wide main bus will still be the most used bus type because: - You build the bus early when you have access only to yellow belts - 6 lanes or 8 lanes bus doesn't save a lot of space, and gives less flexibility Anyway, I w...

Re: Tech Tree
Very nice job on your tech tree, it's quite useful. I'd like to make 2 suggestions: - Add a checkbox that makes cost calculations assume you have productivity III modules into everything - Add a line at the beginning for the stuff that doesn't need to be researched, so we can know the cost of red sc...

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0
I'd also like to open an invitation up for more people to voice their opinion on how and why dirty mining is important (or not). Right now your voice (yes, your's!) is absolutely critical in gaining traction. We need reasons that aren't just "I think it'd be cool"; why would it be cool? W...

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0
What happened to dirty mining? D: That's the one single feature I've wanted since the first few times I've played Factorio! I agree, I feel like this is the only thing the game miss right now. However, I like the way we currently deal with unwanted small ores patchs by "clearing" them fro...

Re: Requester Chest...
Me too, I was surprised when I saw the new requirment for the requester chest, but I'm fine with it. Vanilla is harder now, I appreciate this change I suppose, it's more challenging. The game is intended to be a spaghetti-belt party, if you don't like it, you can play mods. Anyway the research is no...

Thank you for your answers. Seems like the main difference is the steam fees then.

Re: Have Some Questions Before I Buy.
Hello,
1) If I buy the game on steam, can I download a non-steam version of the game on factorio website?
2) I heard steam fee is 30% of sale price, is it accruate?

Re: Friday Facts #187 - Space science & 0.15 graphics
I like that the smoke now comes from the burner, that turn coal into smoke. And I notice that the steam turbines release only small steam clouds. Do you have plans for a cooling tower? At first I though it would be a good implementation, but now I wonder if the added complexity would really add valu...

Mining uranium requires sulfuric acid!
Rockets launchs bring permanent bonuses through infinite research!
Hi-Res!
Real mining drill icon! (good bye wind turbine icon )
Strategic Launch Detected!
Very good job, brilliant work!

Re: Make wood useful
Wood currently cannot be included into main recipes because:
-Wood is a very limited ressource.
-Wood cannot be automatically gathered.
But those points could change in the future, that would allow more uses for wood.

Re: Supression of the size shift of electric furnaces
In my opinion the size change of the furnace is not a surprise.
Burner mining drills and steel furnaces are 2x2
Electric mining drills and electric furnaces are 3x3
Electric stuff takes more space.

Re: Friday Facts #178 - Minimal mode and Mini-tutorials
I think that the mini-tutoriels are a good idea. As a casual gamer (~50h played) I'd like to give you my feedback. -Trains Basic features are simple enough, i didn't need any tutorial. But about signals, despite my 30h spent on openttd, I had to spend 1h on the wiki and forums to understand how to d...

Re: Friday Facts #173 - Nuclear stuff is almost done
I very dislike the heat pipes. Here is what i'd like for nuclear power in factorio: v2.3.png This diagragram represents my comprehension of nuclear power in real life, and is close to the factorio screenshot (with vertical symetry) diagram_irl.png Maybe I should make a dedicated thread for discussion?

Re: Friday Facts #163 - New rails & New problems
I think the rail loop looks odd because it should be elliptic, not circle. Factorio use tiles of 32x32 pixels, rendering 1:1 at zoom scrolling -12 (0 is max zoom in) A vertical belt is about 30 pixels wide. An horisontal belt is about 26 pixels wide. I think that if the tiles were rectangular, maybe...

Re: Nuclear Power from a Nuclear Engineer
For all those who want waste as a junk - remember - no factorio assembly machine leaves waste. Have you ever been to gear factory for example? It leaves alot of waste actually (which is refactored then). Or any other REAL factory. It has waste (which is sometimes refactored, sometimes not). There i...

Re: Nuclear Power from a Nuclear Engineer
If you're looking for realism, it would take about 20 years to build up enough toxic waste to even CONSIDER worrying over waste disposal. I disagree for 3 reasons: -Toxic waste doesn't start to appears after 20 years, it starts to appears as soon as the reactor consume uranium. -IRL you need ...

Re: Nuclear Power from a Nuclear Engineer
I've read the first page of the thread. I love: - Sulfuric acid in the Mining Drill to mine uranium -The nuclear plant heat water (could have several cold water input and several hot water/steam output) (would be nice to have a dedicated steam machine, with a high throughput, and it could even be an...

Re: About lane swapping (underground belt trick): art?
Yea, it could also be a rectangle openning: I agree that's it's a bit odd that underground has this ability, but it's devs choice, it allow to have a minimal number of belt types in the game.5thHorseman wrote:Excuse my quick and dirty image manipulation.
