I would suggest to just make the normal offshorepump using electical power. To start off with electical power at T0 you could design some sort of a small offshoreburner/steamengine, which needs to placed offshore and needs coal to work (manually given or with inserters). Stupid question: So these idle biters wo can't find a path but still group up at the coast use less CPU then calculating a longer path? (which gets cached so far I know)

I think I found a bug on my verry cool mapseed. It seems like (most) aliens are not able to find a path to my factory, they are some kind of cut off by the water although the continents are connected with big landtiles. @Hoeloe Um... 0.13 isn't out for the live version of the game. That is still experimental... Saving that string though. Looks fun. Did you have "Aliens Don't attack first" checked? Would explain why you haven't been attacked yet. Possibly. As you can see Aliens somehow group up on the lef...

Just realized that the 2nd picture of C&C is actually front view. But you're right, those cliffs look bad. I don't know how isometric cliffs would look in front view, but you need to consider that the 1st picture of C&C (Tiberian Sun?) also has some sort of a flat isometric grid. We will see...
