Re: Perfectly optimal solar network
Forget P, just use 42 kW, the average daily production of one solar panel. 42 kW * 100s / 5 MJ = 0.84 accumulators per solar panel. That's fine if you know how many solar panels you need, but you need P for that anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter. I guess there's two ways to approach it fro...

Re: Perfectly optimal solar network
...0.43 P *0.7*416.66 = 140* P seconds. I think there's a small mistake here. I get 125.4 P second. Which I guess is how you got to 158.6s: This is mirrored for the evening, so accumulators are actually being used for 158.6s and you lost me here: though they are at full power for only 52s during th...

Re: Connecting two chest for ignoring a request
I guess the only way to do that currently is to move the items by belt to a provider chest at the target storage location. Using the logistics network to get the items to the storage location AND to replace destroyed mines with the one logistics network isn't possible. Whether it should be possible ...

we still don't have a clear description of what the problem is. And by that I mean an example with the fewest parts/steps.

Re: About gun turrets
When making absolute statements about whether or not a turret can kill something, it becomes a relevant metric. Due to attack ranges, there's also an absolute (hypothetical) maximum of turrets per chunk that can be brought to fire against attackers. Lasers require oil, which is a less readily avail...

Re: About gun turrets
Gun turrets deal three times as much damage per second, per turret, than laser turrets - against big biters, no less; against smaller biters, the gun turrets advantage gets even bigger. DPS per turret is irrelevant. If you want more damage, build more turrets. DPS matters in games where you are not...

Re: My new factory's power facility!
Sorry, but I have no idea why anyone could think that's a good layout. Never heat water after it got past a steam engine. As soon as the latter steam engines need more water, the first boiler are not enough to heat the water to 100° and the first steam engines work not at full capacity. Also you ha...

When using the string, do we have to set all the map settings the same AND use the map string? Or is the map string on its own enough?

Re: My new factory's power facility!
Dat feel when you design a sexy layout 8-) As others have hinted, you might run in to some trouble trying to get more than 5.2 MW from that facility. It seems a single offshore pump can only pump enough water to satisfy 10 steam engines. Adding more pumps doesn't seem to work in my experiences. Mayb...

Re: Connecting two chest for ignoring a request
Are the goalposts fixed enough? :D Not at all. You keep explaining just one part of a complex scenario with the same very vague parameters. Consequently there are many valid solutions. In order for you to rule out those solutions, you need to be more specific about what the scenario is and how your...

Re: Disconnect roboports from logistic network
Or when your goal isn't to 'beat' the game, but to make cool factories and designs. This is why there is a lot of discussion on end-game content even though the game is in alpha. Endless play is fairly popular among the community here. MMmm, I agree. It's just that I'd rather the devs do more work ...

Repeat: This is true for normal settings, but with low resources it is not. Play with different settings. :) My first couple of tries with the game were default res. By third game I finished it with default res. Since then I've only played low resource games. First one was all low res, low frequenc...

Re: Connecting two chest for ignoring a request
Can you tell me how to do it with the current tools the game has? Sure, np. Can we work off one of your screenshots? I'll need the entire path, from where the resources first enter the chain to where they exit; and the conditions which they do so. Also quantity of items and/or time and any other pa...

Re: Great game
The map generator is very generous with default settings. The default "starting area" causes the nearest alien bases to often be VERY far away (relative to how far pollution spreads). But it's very random. If you want some combat in the early game, try generating a new map with a smaller s...

Re: Disconnect roboports from logistic network
So, essentially when your logistics network has any dimension around 500 tiles you start to experience a problem with drones not delivering things in a timely manner. And as it scales out further it becomes completely unworkable at some point. I'm sure we all admit this can be resolved by segmenting...

Re: Connecting two chest for ignoring a request
From every storage or provider chest in the network (= every chest I potentially throw something in to empty my inventory or which is filled by bots on destruction) To the player and every other requester (f.e. wood for a requester in front of a small-pole-making-machine) The logistics network curr...
