Re: Automatic mining bases expansion (or eliminating the nee
Well there is often the answer : "you want it, mod it" in the forum (but it's the case for every moddable game I have played). For me, a game should feel complete without the use of mods. That's the reason I dont agree with the systematic answer "make a mod" to whatever you feel ...

Re: What to do with oil?
What I do is : research oil processing and right after, as soon as possible, advanced oil processing. In between, I store heavy and light oil in tanks, and once I have advanced oil processing, I crack all the stored lignt and heavy oil into petroleum gas.

Re: Poor balance of electric poles/substation costs
Personnaly, the only place where I use the substation is for my solar+accumulator fields, just because it's easier to get a square design with substations (that are 2x2) than with poles (of 1x1). The only thing I don't like with substations is that you can't link substations one to another without t...

Re: Large and Heavy items
I'm not really fond of excessive desire for realism in games, because at some point, you lose all the fun, and just get ... reality. When you speak of large and heavy items needing to be built "on site", do you realize an assembling machine or an electric excavator are just like 3-4 times ...

Re: Player shouldn't block building placement.
Nope it's also a pain in where light doesn't shine in single player. I have had to move myself out of the the exact place where I wanted to build countless times, because building range is not that great that you have a large area where to build around yourself. I'd rather have something similar to ...

Did you consider mass boosting your oil pumpjacks with extra productivity and/or speed level 3 modules ? That helps a LOT, even once they're depleted, to sustain a decent oil income.

Always good to have BIG spare to use as a buffer if you have a consumption peak. And apart from the metal to build sotrage tanks, they cost nothing.

Re: Could Factorio window geometry be saved upon exit ?
Windows' Window Manager does provide basic WM functionality. Some of my software (Skype, Mumble, Steam, Firefox, Chrome, Paint.net, and many others) take advantage from it and remember their size/position when closed and reopened. Some others (Ultra Edit 32 v10, some games, including Factorio) do no...

Re: Could Factorio window geometry be saved upon exit ?
Thanks for the tip, after a grat lot of tries, I managed to put the window exactly at the size and place I wanted to.
However, I still think the game souldn't need a third party tool to redim its window size and pos at every launch.

Re: Size of banners in signatures on this forum
I must admit I hate big signatures. Most of the time, they have no functional purpose apart being somewhat decorative. Most of the time, there is not even need of a signature : every post has the poster on the side. What I consider useful as a signature is a link to a FAQ, hints&tips, ... within...

Re: Could Factorio window geometry be saved upon exit ?
I have tried the Windows x86 and Windows x64 zip package, and behaviour is the same : whatever the game window geometry when I exit the game, it's always the same small window when I launch it again.

Re: Could Factorio window geometry be saved upon exit ?
Most of the apps I use do remember their size and positioning, so I don't think it's a general misbehaviour of my computer. Maybe is there something in my config that specifically prevents Factorio storing its windows position and size ? That seems particularly unlikely (but not impossible). I have ...

Re: Could Factorio window geometry be saved upon exit ?
I do, but Factorio is run with user privilege, not admin. Apps should not be run with admin privileges on regular basis.
However, I have tried to launch Factorio with admin rights to see if it changes anything ; it didn't.

Save window geometry upon exit / Remember window positions / Store window size/location between games
Well title says it all : I'd like Factorio to remember its window geometry (size & position) when I exit the game, so that I don't have to resize and move it the same way every time I launch the game. People who play in full screen probably don't have this need, but I play in windowed mode, with...

Re: Extended radar range by placing them together or radar-p
I have already made a thread about radars. It turned out that : - They do refresh already discovered chunks, one after the other, the oldest not refreshed chunk first - The rediscovery is soooooooo slow that I decided to deconstruct all my radars, and patrol on foot  I'll rebuild my radars ...
