Re: A simple sensor for keeping belts moving
Have you considered an ->>>>underground belt | slow inserter | smart chest | fast inserter | Underground belt return >>>>>? If the smart chest has more than say 100 items, you know the belt is jammed. Also has the advantage of providing a small buffer.

Re: What's the first game you played with crafting?
"System Shock" was the first that I distinctly remember for me but "Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura" was my favorite crafting game until Factorio.

Re: Minimal Steam Power
90 accumulators are using up their stored energy (hopefully at a rate well less than the max). No hope for that, since we are talking about a case when accumulators became fully discharged. At max rate discharge, your accumulators will last less than 17 seconds at night time. That will give you ano...

Re: Minimal Steam Power
90 accumulators are using up their stored energy (hopefully at a rate well less than the max). The 10 accumulators are just transferring energy from the steam gens at their max rate (300 kW). Brings up a good point though. You should have a ratio of about 1 out of 6 accumulators backed up with steam...

Don't forget the Tesla Fuelless Generator - Operates without any fuel input, but works very slowly - The current water pump and transport belts utilize this technology.

Heavy Oil goes in the one end and lubricant comes out the other - You use pipes to transport both of these liquids. Hit [alt] in the game so you can see the connection points labeled.

Re: Minimal Steam Power
The "main factory" grid that powers the entire factory consists of solar panels and accumulators - no steam generators. It covers all items, including coal mining and defenses. Now, off to the side you have your steam gens that are completely cut off from the main power grid. The only job ...

P.S. When can we play the prototype of the game? I want more games as Factorio, so I have more things to play :) Oh no you don't. This Factorio obsession can only last for another 2 or 3 years and then we'll need another Factorio game out of you. Besides, think of all the improvements that can be m...

For the technology tree - I'd like to see the connecting lines be color coded to what science beakers are needed. Maybe even apply a thickness scale so that the science requirement can be seen at a glance.

Re: Buffer optimization and compression
I asked for 4 belts and Buffer not storage :P Medusalem's mass storage can be equally considered a buffer. The input and output into storage is maximized for an express belt. If you want a 4 belt input/output system here is what I came up with: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/download/file.php?id...

For the future, I'd recommend keeping coal and ore separate:
- The rate of coal consumption is much lower than the rate of ore consumption
- Coal can be removed if you replace the furnaces with electric

Yes, but first you have to produce 10 satellites, and 100 level 3 speed modules and then insert them into a locomotive, which then needs a straight run of rail to get up to 88 miles per hourratchetfreak wrote:releasing in the past? that'll be a fun adventure

Sell it for a new release sale of 50% off of $49.99. Christmas is a great time to build up buzz on a new game. Think of the ordinary kids talking about Fallout 10 when they go back to school and then the smart kid starts telling his friends about this new fresh game that has a different take on gami...
