Whoa, that's a brilliant idea! No need for any circuits, just two inserters, one putting in the fuel and a smart one taking it out. Fast, compact, allows carrying items in the trunk, that's exactly what I was looking for!

It's not really an issue with the new stack sizes, though, cargo wagons have always had laughably low capacity. I suppose it's the developer's attempt to make players always use multiple wagons, even if they don't want to move tons of items... which is a shame, since that's trains should be about.

Personally, I think it's a change for the better. A lot of the outcry may be simply because people have to get used to a new system, but that will die out soon. The rest is caused by less space in storage chests and cargo wagons, which can be fixed simply by increasing the number of inventory slots ...

I just tested and ssilk is right - you can only unload the cargo from cars, but not the fuel. It's great for carrying stuff in the car, but not so much for automatic gas stations... I also checked the wiki and it seems Lua can't access the cargo in cars, so it can't be modded in either. We'll have t...

What PipeConnectable should have is a read/write liquid property, where the type, amount and temperature fields would be editable. This alone would be enough to make pretty much anything possible, from train liquid carriages to water-cooled nuclear powerplants and such. It's probably too late to see...

You can try making a furnace with source_inventory_size = 2 (or however many ingredients you want to take at once) and smelting_categories set to whatever recipe category your alloy recipes are.

Combat shotgun shouldn't be compared to the SMG, since it is a superior weapon to the submachine gun in pretty much every way. Instead, we should compare the SMG with the standard Shotgun. A shotgun shell fires 12 pellets doing 4 damage each, while piercing shells fire 16 pellets doing 6 damage each...

Here's a system that fills a smart chest with 60 items very slowly (1 item per 2.4 seconds). When you pull your car up to the long-handed inserter, it will fill with ~64 items in a quick burst.
