Re: Portable Fission Reactor

Wonderful. I just thought of this myself, and was planning to create a suggestion myself. I think it would be more thematically appropriate to call it RTG and have folded into the nuclear tech.

+1 from me.

Re: Friday Facts #187 - Space science & 0.15 graphics

I had an idea while researching the portable fusion reactor. It seems that it doesn't really belong to any energy tech. It just stands on itself. we can't make big fusion reactors for the factory. How about renaming it portable RTG, and folding it into the nuclear power. It would still work the same...

Yeah, I hear you. I bought the game after playing the demo for 5 minutes.

PS: I LOVE the new night vision. It is perfectly usable and non intrusive. Thank you devs for listening to the feedback! :D

Re: Friday Facts #182 - Optimizations, always more optimizations

They should've made minecraft. You'd have nearly infinite worlds with high UPS even with demanding mods. This. I think Factorio is the best optimized game on my HDD right now. Its a whole different category compared to some garbage that gets published these days. One example would be Rise to ruin. I...

Re: Friday Facts #168 - Nightvision Nightmare

Ok, I know this is a bit late, but I just watched David Attenborough's Africa, and I immediately thought of factorio. There is a section where they film Rhinos with a new night vision camera, and it just looks like normal day light footage in gray scale. The scene was filmed in complete darkness, wi...

I think it started with radium "glow in dark" paint, which is green. It was very popular at the beginning of the 20 th century, before the effects of radiation were properly known.

Re: Friday Facts #179 - New resource graphics & concrete

What's with the heavy noise around the ores? Is this on purpose or an artifact of a fast render? It almost ruins how good they look otherwise :D I am pretty sure that is jut ore dust around the ore, a byproduct of either the mining action or the natural weathering of the mineral over the millenia. ...

Re: Friday Facts #168 - Nightvision Nightmare

Although I agree with some of the new night vision criticism--it could use some work--I really like the thinking behind it! Rewarding placement of lighting is an interesting idea, and other optic benefits could add to the usefulness of researching and wearing night vision goggles. Here's my stab at...

Re: Friday Facts #166 - Combat Revisit

The obvious way to buff tank/extend usefulness is give it power armor style modules. Tanks with shields and fusion generators. Tanks loaded with 3- 5 automatic laser turrets. tanks with heavier variants of hand held weapons - lasers, flame throwers, cannon (already have this one) . tanks with speed ...

ps. Dev team, my company (COVRA) is very open to the public and is able to share a lot of information on how radio active waste is being processed and stored. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with. I will try this week to write-up some simple process flow diagrams that might b...

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power

We are just trying to force easy to learn hard to master again. Usually when developers start to try and force a certain type of gameplay/gametype. It doesn't end well. Please don't force circuit play, most people have trouble understanding the "normal" function of these items anyway ... ...

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge

I think lasers are prerequisite for the rocket somewhere along the way, I just didn't even build them.I have also never used the laser shoulder canon, just to be safe. Edit: Nope, laser is , but not laser turret, I have never even researched laser turrets. One other thing that might be mucking up yo...

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge

Well, I have just finished this. I have to say it was quite fun. I really liked the early part after researching automation 2. Crafting even wooden boxes in assembler felt somehow more satisfying. My total craft count was 102. I crafted one extra furnace for boiler at the beginning, because I didn't...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again

I'm not reading 5 pages worth of terrible signatures, wacky avatars and usage of the English language that would make the Queen activate Her bionics and usher in the Second Empire in order to teach the world how to correctly spell in the only relevant language. Anyway. What I was getting at - while...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again

I agree that artifacts are PITA in late game to clear. Removing them solves the problem. Since the artefatcs are now used in just a few minor recipes, you could also greatly reduce the numbers of them. Say every nest only having 30% chance of spawning one. That way you can still have recipes that us...

Re: Friday Facts #161 - Infinite Research and Blueprint Library

Have you guys thought up how to start the game at the beginning? Even just a small flavor sequence would go a long way, for example landing in an escape pod. At the moment we just magically appear in the middle of nothing, with no foreshadowing of what actually happened. A really cool intro would b...

Re: Version 0.13.10

Is it just my game, or does it make a BIG circle with land when you create an map, if there is an lake or something, you can see that the generator creates an circle overrideing the map.. Hard to explain, but i think its something with 0.13.10 update.. Have anyone seen this aswell? I have seen this...
