Re: Version 0.13.10
I am out of the country atm, so mobile internet for me now. After I saw there was some map gen changes I couldn't resist, so I paid £2 for the update data. Loving it so far. Thumbs up!

you guys are extreme. Do you have to rebind the craft keys to something else to avoid accidentally crafting something?

Re: Thoughts on 0.13 Terrain Generation
have been doing some experiments with world gen. This is LOW segmentation, all standard, game seed 5999. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b514/yes753cac/33_zpsucdgjlvt.jpg~original This is HIGH segmentation, again game seed 5999 http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b514/yes753cac/44_zpstruhaxbf.jp...

I think this is the case. Generate maps on very low and very high segmentation. I couldn't find a difference.MrGrim wrote:.. Many people seem to think the terrain segmentation option is just not working as intended.

Re: Is this a terror game?
I absolutely ADORE the music. Its a unique style.
The whole game has got a dark mood setting. The player is basically a ruthless alien, destroying the enviroment and killing the locals.

Re: The perfect acc./solarpanel ratio. Wiki seems wrong
I know its far from optimal, but my strategy is this: - If my accumulators get more than 1/2 discharged during the night, I build more accumulators. - If my accumulators take longer than 1/2 day to recharge, I build more solar panels. This way I have always spare energy in case of large biter attack...

Re: Thoughts on 0.13 Terrain Generation
I seriously can't find any more stone on my map. I had 2 small patches in the area now walled in as my base which have been fully exhausted while I continue to search. I started pushing south, then changed and have been heading east for...a really long time. Pushing through some pretty big biter ba...

0.13 is very stable for me. The only bug I have noticed was the misaligned research button, which has already been fixed in 0.13.2

what really bugs me is that last gif from Factorio development explained in gifs. What sort of magic trick are they reacting to?

Ok, I inserted a rail into the "crane" image, and it fits. So, I definitely think it is a train station. http://i.imgur.com/K7coiMb.png There is suspicious amount of wires around the rails. My guess that this would be more like counting/redirecting station for trains, or cargo reader. It ...

Now I do not usually go for the hype trains, but if I did, I would be VERY EXCITED ABOut 0.13 ... ahem, that is to say I detect elevated levels of anticipation in my emotions.

I like the inserter. It would also work in reverse, where it would pick one item and than wait and scoop additional items of the same type until full, and only than put them in the chest. Simple and Effective!

Re: Friday Facts #130 - Steam release side effects
I imagine that tutorials are quite tricky to do because of the free form nature of the game. The maps are randomized, and all the facilities are very modular. There is one other game that comes to mind that has the same setup - modded minecraft. I personally had good experience with the minecraft mo...

Re: Friday Facts #129 - The late game
Robominers seem like a logical progession to me. You would have a miner port and then miner beacons Beacons could have a 7x7 aoe like medium power poles and connect back to the miner port with cables. Robots will then head out and mine any ores covered by beacons and dump it back in the minerport w...

Re: Friday Facts #129 - The late game
@medusalem: I think you would hit frame rate limits before that happens. You would have so much infrastructure that the game would simply slow down to unplayable levels before you actually hit a soft cap on expansion.
