I think you are experiencing the same problem as me, and I believe its related to artillery rather than pollution (although pollution can cause a similar problem, I have never seen pollution cause this much of an issue) Here is my bug report: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=182&t=643...

I have also launched many satellites in 0.16 and a load more in 0.17 but the research queue has not unlocked. I really dont want to have to use console commands to unlock the reserach q.

Ok thanks, that doesnt feel very intuative and I cant think of a reason why you would want to be able to do that.

I had assumed that alternative zoom was so you could have a key binding and a mouse binding.

The new auto launch tick box has to be set individually on every silo, it can not be copied like other entity info and doesn't seem to be saved in a blueprint. Doubt you will need a save to reproduce this one, but here is one I have used for several other bugs I have reported that has plenty of silo...

My inserters are trying to insert satellites into my rocket silos before the rocket is ready to launch when the rocket result inventory is empty.

Inserters picking up from the exit piece of an underground belt have a *very* small area on the belt they can grab items - which results in the poor speed you're seeing. If you don't want to deal with that poor speed then you need to not pick up from underground belts. But that doesn't explain why ...
