Re: Is it worth switching to electric furnace
I don't find one option better than the other, I use either depending of the situation and what I want to achieve, so I can't vote.

Re: Electric System Rework
Not true. It takes several seconds to discharge an accumulator at maximum output. See https://wiki.factorio.com/Units#Joule_.28J.29d3x0r wrote:You haven't gotten into mods and internals yet then...
Joules is Watts per tick not Watts per second in the internals.

neither, just use pipes and a pump always on, the pipe's own capacity is enough as a buffer.

Re: Big worms too tanky
200 mags for a big worm means your ap-ammo damage isn't over the 10 points of flat resistance of the worm, do some upgrades. Problem is that this is early-game cleanup. It shouldn't need upgraded ap-ammo. ap-ammo alone should just clean house at this stage. This change made the whole endeavor point...

Re: Manual Install Factorio game on Linux Ubuntu 16.04
You're in a 32bit machine. The minimum requirements for factorio is a 64 bits system, although I do see that /bin/i386/factorio exists, but doesn't run for me.breikopf wrote: The error in the console is:Code: Select all

Re: Friday Facts #201 - 0.15 Stable, but not really
I think the game right now in terms of launching a single rocket is "spot on" with any of the presets. Nothing about the the baseline is clunky. However, you did add "infinite research" drives "bigger and bigger bases" without adding in features to make "bigger an...

Re: Nuclear UPS problem theory: heat pipes the culprit?
The UPS cost is because factorio is doing a basic simulation of the heat flow, just like it simulates the flow of liquids (afaik both are the same system), if you remove pipes, of course you get more UPS since you're making the network smaller and is less work to simulate. The other more performant ...

Re: [15.27] Pressing Alt stops player [Ubuntu]
However now I believe that is the window manager catching the keystroke because, like in most distros, alt is for clicking and dragging a window. In any case, using the alt key is always problematic in Linux OSes, I would just rebind it to something else. I haven't ever seen that use of the Alt key...

Re: [15.27] Pressing Alt stops player [Ubuntu]
you probably don't have the shortcut enabled then, the HUD is the search bar that lets you type-search a command of an app instead of using its menus, you can't miss it when you press alt. I tried disabling that shortcut and I confirm that the player stops walking when I press it. However now I beli...

Just to be clear, typically the Windows key in Ubuntu opens the dash board, not the hud. You aren't mixing them up?LegionMammal978 wrote:No, the Ubuntu HUD is bound to the Windows key on my system.m44v wrote:Isn't ubuntu's hud interfering?. Is not profanity, but feels like propaganda though. This is not a historical game where the mention of "the fürher" would make sense in the context. The baker's intention was likely to troll and generate controversy.

Re: Split powersupply in AC/DC
Simplified simulation of typical electric networks of Factorio megabases would probably be possible to program fast enough (especially if wiring would be more clever) (it could use another thread) but it would need efficient programming with C. The "would probably be possible" is a feeble...

[Twinsen] 0.15.23 burner inserter read signal pulses twice
When a burner inserter picks fuel for feed itself (and not for load a container) the read hand contents signal will pulse twice.
Attached is the image of a test, the decider combinator is set for count everything, with 1 solid fuel and 1 iron in the belt, results 2 solid fuel, 1 iron.

Re: Solar panels less of a no-brainer
What's the difference there? Oil vs. coal. You are trading on resource hunt for another. Oil is more useful than coal, so hunting it is more valuable, but it's also in more demand meaning you might be hunting for it more often. It may be a "no-brainer', but it's not free. Not comparable, the o...
