Substation incosistency with connecting
Small poles and medium poles can connect with each other with 2 empty spaces (where electricity is not provided) between them. Substations can only connect when there's no empty spaces between them. Given that substation is already cost ineffective and it's only use is for nice looking solar panel/a...

Poor balance of electric poles/substation costs
Compare prices of substation vs poles: Small pole - covers 25 spaces, 24 effective spaces - costs 0.5 wood, 0.5 copper Medium pole - covers 49 spaces, 48 effective spaces (2 times more than small pole) - costs 10 iron, 2 copper (12 times more than small pole) Substation - covers 196 spaces, 192 effe...

Re: Accumulator / Solar panel ratio
Among several posts trying to find correct ratios, this one is actually the only one I saw that is correct. I've actually made one myself a while ago, however I made several mistakes. Good job! Just so everything is in one post: As you've shown solar panel is active for t1 + t3 = 0.5 + 0.2 = 0.7 of ...

Re: [0.11.7] Crash when selecting damaged tank in the invent
Ah and taking the tank actually forces me to hover over blueprint. That explains why sometimes it would crash before I can select tank. Thanks, waiting for 0.11.8 now.

[0.11.7] Crash when selecting damaged tank in the inventory
Since 0.11.7 game is crashing when selecting damaged tank in the inventory. Sometimes it even crashes when opening inventory too. I've checked factorio-current.log but there's not much in there. Running through terminal though gives this: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile libpng war...

Re: [0.10.4] Segmentation Fault
Seems I'm having the same problem. I've got a save file that reproduces the problem 100%, since I was riding the train when it autosaved and it crashed 10 seconds later. Since I can't attach file that big I've uploaded it to third party website here: http://www.filedropper.com/autosave1

Re: [0.8.x] Big solar farm
Seriously? You're the one ignoring facts and I'm a captcha? Basic math and logic lesson: Building more costs more 572 is more than 200 382 is more than 334 Both methods give same result - you always have enough energy Using my method you can build less panels and accumulators, so my method is cheape...

Re: [0.8.x] Big solar farm
If you try to "minimize total count of accumulators" below the necessary amount you'll have blackout at night, no matter how many solar panels you have, one or thousand. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/minimize . That's why you don't minimize below the necessary amount. That's w...

Re: [0.8.x] Big solar farm
1) The night has nothing to do with solar panels to capacitors ratio , or solar panels at all for that matter. Its just the capacitor count what matters. You either have enough, or you don't. It does, you need enough accumulators to last through the night and enough solar panels to charge those acc...

Re: [0.8.x] Big solar farm
Well don't want to sound rude but only because you do it like that doesn't mean it's the optimal way does it? I've posted all my math on how I calculated all that and unless you can prove me wrong with numbers I'll stick to saying that my way is a lot more optimal (in terms of resources and space ne...

Re: [0.8.x] Big solar farm
Q1: If I were to change over from steam --> solar/accus, what's the best ratio of solar : accu's to use? I've forgotten enough of my physics to forget how to calculate it :( Warning: some math here, if you're interested in answer only skip to last paragraph. So I've taken the time to check how much...
