Re: Friday Facts #312 - Fluid mixing saga & Landfill terrain
Snip I don't understand why you would want to ignore the one thing that makes items and fluid different, that is that fluid can be split into any amount. Fluid does not come in boxes so why treat it that way? People can use barrels if they want that. It would not be intuitive and look silly in some...

Re: Friday Facts #314 - 0.17 stable
So now that the thought of "optimizing for convenience and streamlining the experience doesn't make a game better" sunk in can we revert basic oil processing to output heavy, light and petroleum? ;) This. I didn't want to be the first to say it, but this was basically the first thing that...

Re: Friday Facts #312 - Fluid mixing saga & Landfill terrain
Personally I think that NiceFill should be in the base game. Having a different texture for landfill looks, honestly, kinda dumb. Personal opinion please dont murder me xD This is why I do like these discussions about different topics. I vaguely recall hearing someone talk about nicefill before, bu...

Re: Friday Facts #312 - Fluid mixing saga & Landfill terrain
For the pipes I think several people have offered better suggestions than just preventing mixing. The entire problem with pipes is that they are this special thing that users can't interact with, and they have all of these partial item and weird properties going on. If we could start over on pipes I...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
I feel like at this point you are trying to over engineer the game. And you will keep doing so until it is no longer the game I fell in love with. All under the guise of "making things better". I'm not saying all updates are terrible. I'm not saying do not try to improve. But sometimes, n...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
So if I read this correctly, here's where it stands: Basic processing is still king because it requires so many less things to worry about. You're far better off just doubling the pumpjacks than using Advanced oil. Construction robots are still buried even deeper into the game than before Rocket fue...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I talked to my peers about this change, trying to see it from different angles and honestly for me, as an advanced player and into mega base stuff (as many of my peers are too from multiple communities), you just gave a UPS blessing. Back of the napking on the fly math in my head just says: I do no...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Without productivity modules it is 100% more efficient 100% more efficient how? Like 2x the amount of petroleum gas for the same amount of crude? Is that before or after you factor in petroleum gas you get from cracking both the heavy and light oil? Even if it's double the amount of petroleum gas, ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I'll toss in my two cents as well, just as another person stating the same thing over again. The proposed oil changes does not make a lot of sense. As others have stated where's the desire to even do advanced oil processing? If you're already giving the players the end game result from the beginning...

Re: How to become admin?
Was going to say the same thing. You need to make a new file that doesn't exist, and the settings in server-settings do nothing. Probably needs to be cleaned up at some point.

Yea, I'm definitely going to be playing around with that and see if I can get it setup. That sounds awesome!

That's neat csduff! I was wondering if there was a simple way to change that, and that sounds like an even better solution.

Re: Danger Will Robinson, Danger!!! 0.17 Trains
Driving trains around manually with automatic trains on the line has always been a sketchy proposition. I've had the opposite happen where I stop a manual train into a section and the automatic one assumes it had the right of way and plows into the side of my manual train. Just to make sure you're a...

Re: Version 0.17.17
I seem to remember a while ago maybe v0.15 that this got a "won't fix" response. A lot of us still want it fixed though. And things change in the game so the context of their response changes. Maybe they are open to fixing it now? Apparently not. I put in a bug report but it just got flag...

[0.17.17] Power poles not honoring ghosts
This appears to have been reported before, but I would disagree that this is working as it should. https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=66801&p=407283&hilit=power+poles#p407283 Steps to reproduce: Put down 3 poles, use a copper cable to remove the 3 connections. Place red wir...

Re: Version 0.17.17
Does the pole issue also fix / make blueprints better or worse now? I'm not on the newest releases of this, but I've noticed that I can blueprint power poles that I explicitly disconnected the wires from. When you make the blueprint the wires will be displayed in the blueprint itself. However when y...

Re: Server (<server>) is saving the map
It's the very first line of the config. You should be able to update the "name" property and that will update the server name. "name": "servername", "description": "something about your server", If the file doesn't start with: { "name": &qu...
