Science Packs 1 - 3 in a 16x17 Grid

Because smaller is better. :D

Tricks used:

Assembler chain: Whenever possible, assemblers insert their output directly into another assembler. The fast/smart inserter, gear wheel/transport belt, and electronic/advanced circuit ignore this pattern to use the space in the corners. The ...

Re: Count smart inserter items in circuit network

Say I am unloading a cargo wagon. I have a high-capacity train stop with 2 rows of 6 smart chests on each side (24 smart chests and 24 smart inserters total).

I want 80 total items (green network condition < 80).

The first row of inserters (with +4 size bonus) unloads 60 items into the first row ...

Re: Count smart inserter items in circuit network

I want to limit the number of items in my green network. No matter which chest or inserter they are in.

Counting chests gives a rough estimate, but I am using a LOT of inserters and it makes a difference for me.

Re: Expanding The Function Of Lights

It could be as simple as +1 armor to enemies in darkness, to represent the increased difficulty to hit them.

Count smart inserter items in circuit network

Items being held by a smart inserter currently do not count as part of the circuit network. I am using a smart inserter to transfer items between two smart chests on the same circuit, and it makes my item count fluctuate.

Please add items being held by a smart inserter to the network total.

Re: Who is the player character?

He is just one member of the advance team sent to secure a landing site for a wave of colonists. (The whole team is trained in engineering and combat.)

Unfortunately the rest of his team gets wiped out by the Biter air defenses, so he has to complete the mission alone.

Forum is invisible to Google Bot

The first bug is, there is no place for bug reports about the forum. ;)

Now the real problem. I use Google to search forums, it is so much better than the built in search. Unfortunately this forum has blocked Google Bot from seeing anything.

Here is a screenshot from Google Cache:

Re: Flask production Tier 1 and Tier 2

Even more compact design with 10x11 footprint. ;)

The iron and copper inserters are wired to a smart chest. Iron flows while gears < 10, and copper flows while copper < 10. This is needed to stop the cargo wagon from filling with raw materials.

Re: Do trees have any gameplay effect?

An empty tile soaks up 0.0005 pollution. [1]
A brown tree soaks up an additional 0.0001 pollution.
A healthy tree soaks up an additional 0.0005 pollution. [2]

But even dense forests have 3-4 tiles per tree, so you're looking at a max of about -30% pollution. More like -10% if only one edge of your ...

Consumption/Production / Electric Network Info / Power Meter

In the "Electric network info" panel, there are two green bars for consumption and production. They look very similar to a bar graph, and are the most eye-catching thing on the page. So the first time a newbie opens the panel, they say, "Oh no! My consumption bar is bigger than my production bar! I ...
