Re: Early Defense Setup
The regular armor doesn't cut it against larger biters because of their increased resistances. As said you need to switch to piercing ammo, which requires a decent amount of steel (by early game standards).

Re: How to make a train limiter?
For more complex setups there is this mod:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/train-pubsub
This allows you to have waiting yards with full and/or empty trains and then call trains to stations as needed

Re: How to make a train limiter?
You can hook up either rail signals or train stops to the output of a decider combinator. So you can turn a signal red. Or you can disable a train stop

Re: Power Armour 2 Equipment
I like roboports a bit more. By current building suit has 4 Mk2 with 3 fusion reactors. And 4 exoskeletons But it's a matter of taste. Plenty of options. For combat you need to make room for shields and some laser defenses How many fusion reactors and batteries you use also depends on how heavily yo...

Re: Nuclear power and accumulator priority
I'm not too worried about capturing all of the steam in tanks really. As you said figuring out how much is stored as heat in the reactors and pipes is difficult and changes as you continue to upgrade the power plant I also want to keep each unit of 12 heat exchangers and 20 turbines self contained. ...

Re: Red Circuit 2.4k/m
Like with the green circuit build in the other thread this is also something where tiny details are important to actually achieve the theoretical numbers I've found that having one continuous copper wire belt is bad. That way cables move constantly, which means sometimes the circuit assemblers will ...

Re: Space Optimized Green Circuit Design
Ah, belt weaving again. Didn't think of that. And somehow I don't think I like it too much (no real reason, just a feeling). I also seem to mostly think of it when something actually only needs a red belt. But here one isn't sufficient, so I would have dismissed it

Nuclear power and accumulator priority
Accumulators have the lowest priority. I still have some solar fields with accus that wouldn't get used if nuclear is running all the time. I have sets of 12 heat exchangers in a row into some tanks, then a pump and then 20 steam engines. I hooked an SR-latch to an accumulator and only turn on the p...

Re: Circuit network on roboport, help needed
That works better for logistics bots than construction bots though. With construction bots you can run into the situations where they are overtaxed by a large building project, but you could really live with it taking a while. And the next project on that scale might be some time away

Re: .17 coal power ratios
the biggest change being the greatly increased abundance of oil, making accumulators relatively cheap, That is true. When I first started playing Factorio oil ran out very fast and you needed to use speed modules very soon. So it helped greatly to not use too much petroleum. Now it still goes down ...

Re: Burner fuel values
I tend to switch out of burner power generation pretty early. Only 72MW coal power and even that goes into backup mode as soon as I get solar panels and accumulators. After that I only burn coal in furnaces. The issue is more that you don't need to rely on coal power for long

Wall repair/supply station with hysteresis for train call
Getting to the point where I should probably place some roboports on walls and supply them by train I had the thought that I don't want the train to go whenever a single item is missing. So I came up with a design that stocks the station as specified by a constant combinator, but then only calls a t...

Re: Space Optimized Green Circuit Design
It's not really bad. The question is if you care about energy efficiency, in which case you may want to minimize the number of beacons. It's not insignificant, but with a large nuclear plant you could stop caring. Or if you want as few machines as possible, which may be slightly better for UPS if yo...

There is no need to make the coal belt ratio perfect. I like to run 20 boilers on each side of a red belt. The belt could support more, but so what?

Re: Space Optimized Green Circuit Design
I updated my original post with proper inserter order :) I don't think double up on the copper wire inserters is necessary. Seems to work fine with just the stack inserter The double design seems to have some issues when the chest buffers aren't filled a bit, which happens in creative mode at start ...

Re: Nice compact kovarex enrichment setup
my goal with that kind of kovarex set up is to get a perfect ratio for nuke power. If the Factorio Calculator is correct you barely need any enrichment centrifuges According to this one centrifuge can supply about 50 reactors. If you need 50 fuel cells every 200 seconds that 0.25 per second...
