Re: Meaningful Content Update
The combat is arguably the weakest part of the game. I say the love story is weaker. I mean, you never even see the love interest on screen and there is like NO back story. Also the roguelike aspects could be better fleshed out. That's pretty fair, you have the campaign for a bit of backstory but y...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
Expanding on the combat, that's apart of the game isn't a stretch by any means. If you don't like the combat there is sandbox mode or Sim City. You are oddly defensive about feedback from players who enjoy that aspect of the game. The combat is arguably the weakest part of the game and seen little l...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
Is it not allowed to discuss about new content??? Dont feel attacked just because there exists people who think that the game lacks some content in some parts of the game and that it is polished enough so they would like to switch the focus of developement over to more content in the future. It is ...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
While I enjoy reading the blog and seeing small tweaks and graphical updates to the game, none of it is enough to really pull me back into the game. I've been reading the Friday blog for years now, and I can't help but be a little disappointed that there hasn't really been many new features. I keep...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
The point I am trying to make is development is really, really slow with Factorio. Yet we have indie devolopers with similar games pushing out way more content in the same time span. I suspect you and I define "similar" differently. By my definition there are no games similar to Factorio,...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
(which shoulda been hd from the start) From FFF #4 loooong before high-res option was added to the game, and when there was much less content. After the 0.7 release we got some complaints that the game is using too much video memory. Some players couldn't even load the game for this reason. The 0.7...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
For example look at Rimworld, it's been adding polish while also pushing meaningful content updates at the same time. Plenty of indie developers have been able to balance the two (Risk of Rain 2, Satisfactory, Prison Architect are other examples) . I've been waiting over a year for Factorio to real...

Re: Friday Facts #169 - Combat revisit 2
I think the turret creep issue stems from not having enough bitter types. Flying bitters that only anti air turrets could hit. Or long range artillery bitters. You could have armored bitters that evolve to be resistant to laser fire so a mixed turret system is ideal. I love the thrower defense mode....

Re: Friday Facts #150 - New Terrain Experiments
I'd really like the different biomes to effect gameplay a bit and encourage players to explore and get out of the base. This could be unqiue resources for each biome or something else entirely. Maybe snow could slow your vehicles but also the aliens and be more oil rich. Deserts could have a higher ...

Re: Will We Ever Get 3d Terrain?
I am aware of the two different types of "3d" terrain. I guess I envision more of a Sim City 2000 style with slopes and cliffs. You can also look to game stronghold hd which does both. Fake 3d would be better than we currently have. It would be both graphically pleasing and add some gamepl...

Will We Ever Get 3d Terrain?
I'm curious if we will ever see some kind of height map with 3 dimensional terrain. Mountains, dips, valleys, rivers, ect. Love the game (it's awesome) but the world just sort of feels lifeless, flat, and barren. I think some terrain features would liven things up a bit.

Re: Version 0.13.0
I don't want to discredit all the hard work, there is a lot of awesome changes in here but....there isn't really a lot of new features or content. I think we just got new flame towers and fire right? Hopefully the next content patch brings a lot of new awesome content. My friends all want flying ali...

Re: Friday Facts #136 - Map Transfers
Trying to play with my friend is really painful. He gets like 30 kbs when downloading from me (I have amazing Internet so it's on his end). Sometimes it takes 15 to 30 minutes for him to download the map each time. If I have him run speed test he gets about 1 mbps (he's on microwave internet). So we...

Re: Balancing Steel Barrels in Oil Barreling stations
I just have one train. One wagon is assigned empty barrels the other wagon is filled with full barrels. The wagons are filling and unfilling both empty and full barrels at every stop. Super easy to setup. I don't know if it's the most efficient but it sure is easy to setup.

Re: My Super Long Feedback and Suggestions
Thanks for the heads up with the resource mod, so much better now. Yes the car is a great scout but it can be pain to use with trees and they can't take many hits. I don't expect it to be a tank but if it could be upgraded to be somewhere in between (modular) it would get a bit more use.

My Super Long Feedback and Suggestions
Initial Impressions and Balancing Issues First let me start by saying this game is awesome. I've lost more hours in it than I care to share. I was blown away by the level of detail and how vast the game is but easy to pick up. The intro campaign levels are great at slowly introducing concepts and t...
