Re: Fluid Optimization not fixed for release?

By the way, the OP is about the fluid mechanics, but the title is fluid optimization. Optimization means making the game run faster, mechanics is changing the results, it's the wrong word. Though there is an indirect connection, in that anything that works also has to be fast enough for real time ca...

Re: Fluid Optimization not fixed for release?

If there were unexpected issues, they did it wrong.

To this day, any design I make with fluids is constantly foiled by the fluid physics. I suggested a solution 3 years ago. They haven't implemented a fix because they think it's too much work to write the known solution into code.

Re: Deleted blueprint book

The library, and the way it interacts with tool belt and inventory, could be okay, but the way they work together needs to be clearer in-game and there needs to be some insurance against losing designs because some people put too much time into optimizing them individually for them to just disappear...

Re: Let's see your clever builds

I just realized I never posted my finished v0.16 science design for some reason, and it's pretty overdue now since the formulas are changed for v0.17, but here it is. It takes as input: green circuits, red circuits, iron plates, copper plates, steel, coal, water, petroleum, lubricant. The 30 labs pi...

Re: Deleted blueprint book

I guess I should have mentioned that I am playing 0.17. It's already a lot more stable than many mature games. I really hope the fluid mechanics truly get fixed, it's long, long overdue. I had proposed highly detailed fixes a long time ago. There's a lot of designs I was never able to finish because...

Re: Deleted blueprint book

I did not. Didn't know the feature existed and I don't need remote saves anyway, I only play from one location. Besides that, I don't have the steam version, because a non-steam version was available. After experimenting, it seems that something was changed such that some of the books in inventory a...

Re: Deleted blueprint book

I was expecting it to remain in the current game or at least in the game save, not in the library. That's how it always worked before.

Deleted blueprint book

Hi. I deleted an extremely important book from my library, knowing that it would remain on the item bar below, as it always has. But, it disappeared from the bar, and even though I specifically avoided saving this and have auto saves turned off, I loaded the same save and it was, again, mysteriously...

Re: Version 0.16.16

But if it would work like you describe (as I understand ), the following setup may not work anymore. Do you like to output copper-iron-copper-iron on each side instead? file.gif It would make that not work any more yes, but that is a very tentative thing anyway, just one wrong item in the input and...

Re: Version 0.16.16

So in summary, my vote is for reinstating the old splitter behavior, but have it only remember which belt the last item of each type was sent to, rather than the last 5 to 6 items of each type (depending on which output belt). And randomize between the two belts separately for each type when the sp...

Re: Version 0.16.16

I see three different changes to the splitter behavior. 1] The memory is reduced from [-5,5] to [0,1], I approve. 2] The memory is now separate for each lane instead of shared, this alone makes splitter sorters impossible and also forces compressed inputs to alternate between lanes on each output be...

Re: Version 0.16.16

edit: Nevermind I figured it out, mostly, everything is fixed except that it insists on using the config.ini in the game folder instead of the %appdata% one, even though everything else is once again %appdata%. Trying to update from 0.13 to 0.14 royally screwed up my installation, and I've been tryi...

Re: Sort by date is strange

Yes, time. I made a new thread, and for me it is in the middle of the page instead of the top. The first 9 unpinned threads are all 2016 and 2017, both in first post and in most recent reply. https://forums.factorio.com/viewforum.php?f=193 Oh, I think I just figured it out. I think maybe, it is putt...

Sort by date is strange

The threads are no longer sorted by date, not for first post, or for most recent post. When I change between sort by date ascending and descending, I do get two different results, and the results are consistent, but they are not sorted by date. But I don't understand what is determining the sort ord...

Re: Fuel Conserving Nuclear Power Setup

It would probably take a lot more combinators than that to slow down the CPU, so I wouldn't worry about it. Use however many you want.

That's not nearly enough heat exchangers and water to keep up with the heat output of 6 reactors. I need 6 rows of 8 (48 exchangers) just for four reactors.

White papers have been published exposing a flaw and exploit in modern CPU hardware, and a second one for only Intel CPUs, but it doesn't have anything to do with Factorio.

Re: Version 0.16.14

I used the in-game updater to download and install from 0.16.13, factorio failed to restart, and the executable is missing from \Factorio\bin\x64\ now. There are only two files in the folder, ChromaAppInfo.xml and factorio.pdb. I don't suppose there's an easy way to download only the executable?

Automated nuclear

I made this some time ago (v0.15.9). It should still work fine, I changed the water signal to use the new steam signal. It turns on only when steam tanks are below a certain threshold, it intelligently processes uranium, and it uses a timing circuit to track reactor activity, which will be affected ...
