Re: 0.17+ mining & smelting numbers
According to the wiki, yellow inserters move 0.83 items/s. EDIT : you probably included stack bonus and I didn't... That's why our numbers don't match. I'm used to calculate without the bonus for speedrunning. So... Yeah speedrunners would need blue inserters, but everyone else should be fine with y...

Re: 0.17+ mining & smelting numbers
Electric mining drills : What does your suggestion try to achieve? "Just" a buff? Yes. I feel like getting full belts from starting patches will become harder, and I would prefer the drills to speed up rather than to slow down, compared to now. Plates : I also like the 2s recipe suggestion...

0.17+ mining & smelting numbers
0.17 will change how mining is calculated (FFF #266) but also belt throughput and (maybe ?) smelting recipe time (FFF #276). I've read several messages that - basically - said : "mining and smelting builds are the biggest part of my factory, although the least interesting part to build". I...

Re: Friday Facts #276 - Belt item spacing & Script rendering
is an additional boiler tweak planned (apart from fuel efficiency) ? If I understand correctly, 1 full belt of coal will feed 33.33 boilers in 0.17.

Re: Friday Facts #276 - Belt item spacing & Script rendering
Very good changes. My bet on the plates recipe tweak : 3 plates are crafted every 8 seconds. The recipe numbers appear nice and round to the player, and it requires exactly 40 stone furnaces or 20 steel furnaces to smelt 1 belt. It would be a buff, but it would counter the mining drill debuff announ...

A little out of the blue... Here's a small thought for the actual destroyer lightning beam. I understand it's better to make it the same as the turrets because they share technology, but it was a really nice lightning beam. It's a wonderful electric beam and I'm glad you keep it as it is

Wow :) Good job thinking about all this, and writing the FFF... I agree with almost everything in this FFF. "Utility" sounds a bit low-tech to me. I'm used to High-tech. Pipe in the Logistic Science may be too difficult because of the 3 ingredients ? I remember that automating my first gre...

Same here, and I already like it better than half an hour ago. Maybe too "roundish" /"toyish" ? In any case, amazing job. 0.17 will look really good!bobingabout wrote: ↑Fri Nov 23, 2018 6:58 pmI don't really like the new substation graphic, but I'm sure it will grow on me.

Niiice... I'm also really happy with the work you do / plan to do on the game sounds. I like speedruns but also long casual plays, and a better sound design will improve longplays greatly.

I don't like the mining tool replacement (increased speed when Steel tech is unlocked). NPE-wise, giving the information of an increased mining speed to the player is no better than letting him craft an actual tool. I bet that lot of new players will think that mining drills speed is increased with ...

I love the robot. I'll do the tutorial again to see it in action! The red assembling machine has the same model of mk2, so it seems that you unified tiers colors : 1 yellow /2 red /3 blue. I'm not against that, although lvl 2 assemblers aren't really equivalent to lvl 2 belts in the game progression...

This is too complicated for me ! I want to playtest solution 4 and maybe 3 too. But I know I completely agree with the "troublespotting" part of this FFF, so I'm very confident you'll find a way to do this that brings QoL and ease of use for everyone. I'm currently having like 5-10 bluepri...

Cool !
Setting the frequency to minimum gives you very few ore, setting the size to minimum gives you no ore at all. How does one makes the difference between very few and none at all with the new sliders ?

Unlike bobucles, I'm all for this power armor mk2 change. I won't say there's a huge gap between mk1 & mk2, but I think it's a sufficient gap : mk2 requires yellow packs. So mk1 isn't worthless. I feel on the contrary that the gap between mk1 and mk2 is now closer of the gap between modular and ...

Really nice. This will be really useful to me with station names.
I hope this will come with the ability to use more special characters in saves names...?
Edit : yes to Pacifiers message up there.
