Re: Version 0.17.60

Perhaps that was the intent, but it was not the result people remember nor praise. Yeah, I don't feel that way : to me, SF feels way more useful when I send it to furnaces or power, as this saves coal and gives me more plastic bars. But anyway, in a 17.59 case, we've got 2 reasons to keep SF in Che...

Re: Version 0.17.60

I'll just mention that the only real use for light oil was making efficient solid fuel previously. How much of it did you really spend for flamethrower? That is indeed true, but now that solid fuel isn't even used in Chemical Science, it makes both light oil and solid fuel near useless until you bu...

Re: Version 0.17.60

OK, I know nothing about developpement - I play, write & teach music - but I know for sure when I'm facing someone passionate about his work, and what I read here makes me a little bit mad. Everyone complaining about being ignored should read those 4 posts : https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

As 17.60 is out sigh of disappointment I'm 100% sure most of us will eventually don't mind this change. :) IIRC, I was disappointed at 2 changes in the game : removal of the separate tanks in the fluid wagon, and removal of the pickaxe tools. But in the long term, I have to admit this had 0 effect ...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Thank you ! Really nice work, both on balancing the game & interacting with the Factorio community.

However I think 25 Heavy Oil in Advanced processing recipe is too generous. So I made a thread in the Balancing section. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=73829

0.17.60 : Reduce Heavy Oil output of Advanced Oil Processing

In Factorio 17.60, AOP may be a bit too generous on Heavy oil (it was 10/45/55, it's now 25/45/55) IIRC, Advanced processing Heavy oil output was raised to make up for Basic oil processing providing no more Heavy Oil, so the player had enough lubricant to build bots. But see the (awkward) situation ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

(well-thought-out post that makes several new points) How come none of the developers have responded to this post? I think it brings up a ton of good points that haven't really been made yet. We can't expect devs to answer every post in such a long thread on a sunday. Also, as enjoyable to read it ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

So I tested the Oil Changes mod V453000 made friday, and it affects my gameplay only marginally. Not surprising as I have a really "casual" gameplay style. Reading previous posts made me realize that this oil balance patch could have a really nice effect on gameplay, which is reducing star...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Players are still taught the "wrong" way of doing things initially, especially for solid fuel now that only the petroleum one will even be available at basic processing. About that : why even unlock solid fuel with basic processing ? Suggestion : "Flammables" tech unlock all 3 s...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

It may be the time to reduce chemical science pack crafting time? If I understand correctly, people don't want to build manually chemical science assembly. With a 10 or even 8 seconds crafting time (20 or 16 seconds for 2 packs), the task would be easier. Could even reduce the engine unit crafting t...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

However sadly this still does push back construction bots due to those indirectly requiring red chips. Maybe this could also be modded a bit to grant most satisfying experience. Ahem, Construction Bots require Green Circuit Chips not Red Circuit Chips. Don't you need a roboport to make them work ? :)

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I like in the Heavy Oil Chemical Science mod that you make your way from low tier products to high tier products. This feels really good. This solution also seems well balanced, as the same chemical science throughput can be achieved with the same number of assembling machines. I'd prefer however to...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Well, it appears that all these pages of opinions were pointless and any more will be too. The decision seems to have been made and that will be that. I'm sorry that I dare to post counter arguments or my general impressions, but please convince me otherwise about those points if you believe I miss...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Right now, I can't figure out a better solution than the one proposed in FFF. But also, in my case, thinking of a feature/balance to come has always been really different from testing it ingame. So I'm really eager to play 17.59 tomorrow. Also, congratulations on this epic bug battle you're doing si...

Or, for streamlining sake : only armor expands inventory. Toolbelt tech get removed, and armor inventory bonuses get a buff.
