Re: Train queuing...

I make parallel waiting tracks with own stops for every trains. Room and tracks are practically free and it is easy to build. I get also nice realistic looking rail yards. Such a system works flawlessly hundreds of hours under heavy load, except sometimes a train try to go through a wrong track and...

Re: Train queuing...

I'd hesitate to call it a "problem", I originally noticed I did not get FIFO processing with the setup. Which could potentially cause issues with ore loading sites being visited in an "uneven" order which could potentially cause heavily visited ore loading site chests to run dry....

Re: Train offloading

I updated my setup based in part on this conversation. I removed my lane balancer and added a second load balancer in series. It seemingly had no effect. Before completing approx. 10,000 science packs of research the unloading chests on the left most portion of this setup had emptied. Here is a scre...

Re: Train queuing...

Hmm, looking again I added another chain signal to the setup. Maybe that makes the difference?

Re: Train queuing...

Did this get addressed? I was looking at again today and it seemed to be working on a FIFO basis, but my dataset was not large, I might just have been flipping heads every time.

Re: Capped Wells.

I assume a "speed modules mk3" is from a mod of some kind? Speed module 3 is stock stuff. You have 3 tiers of all stock modules. Ahh, okay -- you confused me with the "mk3" -- there is no "mk" in the stock game's name of the module, they are "Speed module 3"s...

Re: Train offloading

I'll certainly agree people do make changes trying to achieve theoretical or visual perfection. And at some point, the issue would be self correcting.... If the first cargo wagon consistently has 90% of it's load left when the three other are empty, eventually the chests used by the other three will...

Re: Train offloading

Well that is a bit disappointing. *sigh* So how do people deal with this in large "mega-factories"? Seems like it could be quite an issue...

But the oil doesn't run out, that is the issue.

So, you are going to get right on that for me?

Re: Capped Wells.

First of all, put speed modules mark 3 on all oil pumpjacks. Second of all, surround the pump jacks with beacons and put speed modules mk3 in these beacons as well. ! Wouldn't it be better to put production modules in the pumpjacks and then speed modules in the beacons? I assume a "speed modul...

Capped Wells.

This might be a frequent suggestion, if so feel free to say so and lock the topic.

I'd like a way "cap" or whatever, a used oil field. And then be able to configure the map to not show capped oil fields. Yes, I know that technically they never run out.

Official "stable" version?

It seems like I should know this, but I couldn't figure it out. Where can I find out what the current "stable" version is? I checked http://www.factorio.com without results. The reason I ask is I let my version updates lag, I'm playing 13.11. I'd like to update, but I'm not sure what versi...

Re: Train offloading

Just to clarify a few things, the train cars are all arriving fully loaded, right? No imbalance on the loading end of the train's run? If you block off the output until the train unloading chests are all full, and then run it, the chest contents definitely drop at different rates? The reason I brou...

Re: Train offloading

My extra underground belts are simply setting up the lane balancer which is directly behind the load balancer. I wouldn't think that should make any difference. My load balancer is identical to yours. I should have thought to upgrade the setup with Stack Inserters though.. will consider that. But ge...

Train offloading

I built this four cargo wagon offloader below expecting it would result in even unloading of the cargo wagons regardlesss of the drain on each of the for resulting supply lines. The cargo wagons actually unload into chests, and this setup pulls from those chests. However, that does not appear to be ...
