You could confirm the oil shortage by clicking on a refinery and watching it. Does it have to wait to build up to a full load of oil before it can start processing it? If so, then there isn't enough oil. The refineries should have 200 Oil (twice a full amount) in them essentially all the time, when ...

Buffer chests were created to address a specific problem, which frankly I wouldn't be able to describe. I have never used them.

Nice, well spotted. Totally missed the unused oil patches. I didn't check the piping on the pump jacks since he claimed they were all working. So, either he fixed the piping, or his definition of "working" needs work. :o

I've never had problems with it. The first time you send the oil train to the oil field filled with empty barrels, you leave immediately, not allowing a load of oil barrels on board, immediately go back with a second load of empty barrels. Now each time you go, the empty barrels are off loaded simul...

In the Coal Powered mod page it says:

It looked like you were pumping oil into a tank, and then feeding the refineries off the tank. Is that correct? If so, is the tank empty? If not, then you might need a pump or two along the distance between the two. If the tank is empty, then obviously you need more oil production.

From within the game, if you go to the menu and click save game, you'll see a list of the mods in the upper right. If you have enough, you'll need to scroll to see them all. Since you have mods, it is possible you need to research wooden planks or something which simultaneously will allow making woo...

Uh, they should be available immediately in the "Logistics" tab (left most tab) of the crafting window. Are you running any mods?

The third image shows you have managed to pollute the oil input pipes with Petroleum Gas somehow. You need to remove those pipes and then place them down again.

Hi. I have over 1000 hours in the game, but haven't started a map from scratch since mid 0.15. I agree, minimize the video watching, maximize the learning by yourself. When all is said and done, you'll be glad you spent the time to figure things out yourself. If you get stuck and can't figure something out you can come here for a quick specific answer.

Or the other thing I have seen people do is put combinators with the resource selected which supposed to be inserted. Obviously this would require modifying a working setup before blueprinting it.
