Re: Friday Facts #426 - Resource search & Assembler GUI improvements

I just noticed something, whatever creatures run around on Vulcanus are probably quite terrifying, otherwise how would you justify that packed ring of turrets around the coal patch:

how would you justify not protecting the mine to the top right at all whatsoever if they were truly terrifying ...

Re: Friday Facts #426 - Resource search & Assembler GUI improvements

OR Whatever is running around there, has just a taste for coal :D

Must be Germans then. We will attack with the biggest Mechs you can imagine and dig your Coal!

Do you have any particular IP in mind here? Only thing I can think of atm is Iron Harvest and I am sure their mechs run on oil ...

It also tells me that players will have no agency, no way to change that if they want to play a different way, just as you don't have any agency to change the way you deal with their new spoilage mechanic.

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

Say, quick question - Gleba has no coal... or Uranium. How are you getting all this power? From farming products you say? Ah, good, no problem there then, carry on...

Seems like it. Although shipping in Uranium might also be a strong option.

? Why? On this planet petroleum is obtained ...

I think the first mod I get will be a change to the models
Devs, please consider a 'pentaphobia mode'

those things are disturbing and creepy and viscerally disgusting
like I had to close the window because they were that icky

and I say this as someone who loves spiders

Awesome. We can ...

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

Maybe the agriculture tower could be repurposed to "plant" and "harvest" egg rafts?

I think eggs will be produced in the biochamber... so in theory you have to harves one manually to craft a biochamber and then with that chamber you can produe more. The issue is that if you don't process them ...

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

So... my reaction to the video was literally "WTF". Is that really the default welcome party once you land on Gleba? Or was it made more dramatic for trailer reasons?

For the rest I like everything about enemy behavior and attack patterns. I understand that each planet will have a unique ...

Re: Friday Facts #422 - Tesla Turret

Yeah but RD first is quite dark in its tones... rd2 instead has comedy spin. RD1 is about war crimes and harming civilians, RD2 and 3 are puns and gags. I can recommend RD2 to anyone, but RD1 is really only for us old nostalgic millenials.

And there are no Paris or Space connections in RA1 so it's ...

Thanks for the answer

For the comrades that never heard about Tesla turrets before, grabbing a Red alert 2 copy at the next steam festival wouldn't hurt. Especially since it's Olimpics time... in Paris of all the places.

And also because the whole theme of Factorio expansion is to ...

Re: Friday Facts #422 - Tesla Turret

So in space age there is space also for "optional techs" that are not "mandatory" to finish the game. I hope that each planet has some non mandatory perk hidden within. It would make replayability more marked (that is play another game chosing another planet order would result in a more unique ...

Re: Friday Facts #420 - Fusion Reactor

Uranium is also going to be required for the more efficient space science recipe so there will still be a need for Nauvis and uranium mining/processing (unless you want to go hard mode and try to scale up the satellite launching version enough to compensate).

Fair enough. But for instance every ...

Re: Friday Facts #420 - Fusion Reactor

Question for the devs, did you try to figure out a different kind of puzzle instead of the proximity multiplier?

Real fusion will probably be "pulse like" rather than a constant output. That is charge plasma, reaction (energy production), discharge repeat. Maybe an alternative kind of puzzle based ...

1,2 Gleba science packs are affected by this spoil mechanic, this is confirmed in the post. Science pack is a final product for infinite researches. If your main base is (most likely) going to be on the other planet, you are going to transport it via multiple transport types, all the route having ...

Re: Friday Facts #414 - Spoils of Agriculture

What happens when not researching with Gleba science? The science is not being consumed so it will spoil and you need to constantly keep creating it (and delivering it) regardless of it being used. No more full belts of science packs for this one. A bit sad, although the mechanic itself sounds ...

Also forgot to add... it looks strange that you have to destroy the tree alltogether in order to gather the fruits. If you go that route you should not use trees but something else, like mushrooms or whatever.

Re: Friday Facts #414 - Spoils of Agriculture

Interesting... I had half a feeling that you would introduce spoilable items on a planet, although I was thinking to chemical stuff to be transported from zone to another zone rather than organics. But I never thought though that you would even make science packs spoilable.

The question then comes ...

2. The planet will be a quite a lot resource heavy performance-wise. A lot of decoratives, presumably animations and live creatures will raise the system requirements quite a bit.
