Re: How do I build a make-anything-machine?

Wow, there are a lot of serious programmers who play Factorio! You guys have made some crazy stuff.

I have yet to see a Vulcanary either. Space Age is ruined.

Re: Space Age has ruined Space Age!

We will need to decrease the Space Platform Velocity slightly to compensate, can somebody start a new Oil Refinery near the South Pole? The Penguins won’t mind the Thruster arrays.

I think the US government is working on this right now! We can do it!

And while we're at it, maybe we should get ...

I hate the Julian Calendar! We should have 13 28-day months, instead!

I just found the cause of all of the crazy problems happening in the US right now!

It's Space Age.

Space Age has ruined Space Age!

Space Age is the worst! I don't know why so many people like it. Here are my problems with it:
It's too complicated.
It's not complicated enough.
It's too long.
It's too short.
Quality is dumb.
Vulcanus is awful.
Fulgora is a pain in the butt.
Gleba is the worst.
Space platforms aren't fun.
There ...

Re: How to diagnose desktop crash (Mint)?

Unfortunately, I had this same error happen again with a different video card. And again, it happened when I was looking at my largest platform.

Anybody else have any ideas? Is it time for a new motherboard?

Here's the part from /var/log/syslog when everything crashed:

Re: How pros approach the game?

I sit down and my computer, open a beer, then I look at my biolabs to see which science is missing. Then, I trace back to where ever the bottleneck is, and I start building. When I run out of beer, I turn off my computer.

Re: Upcycler statistical bias

That's to be expected. The longer you run the recyclers, the more likely it is you'll see this. That's basic probability (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probability), and it's further described by the Law of Large Numbers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers) and Extreme Value Theory ...

Re: How to deactivate the Flat character GUI

I don't believe that's possible without a mod.

Also, if you don't know about the Factoriopedia (the little icon of an open book in the top right of the screen), all of the recipes are there, if that helps what you're trying to do.

Those are a lot of really neat ideas! I'd love to see some of that in a future version of Space Age. You should consider writing some of them up and posting them here: https://forums.factorio.com/viewforum.php?f=6

Thank you, but I've already posted a bunch. I assume that if it's meant to be ...

Re: Quality killed this game for me

All of my quality stuff is pretty boring. I just run it the stuff I want to upgrade through a recycler. I sort the pieces coming out of the recyclers based on Quality, and send the pieces back into an assembler/em plant of corresponding Quality. I let the Legendary stuff pile up in a red chest. No ...

Re: Gleba has killed the game for me.

It looks like pure laziness at first, but if you take into account that the devs didn’t add any way to “freeze” the timer.
....
A freezer is very welcome.

But back to Gleba... flash freezing could be part of a new recipe chain. Like maybe there's something that gets produced and used in large ...

Re: Quality killed this game for me

Our current electronic chip production (computer-ICs etc.) is, if you want to call it that, the same gamble as Factorios quality. When TMSC or Intel start with a new process their yield of working chips starts somewhere in the single digit percentages, the rest is (hopefully) recycled or thrown ...

More or less a copy-paste of what I said in the other topic with a similar name, but about quality:

The devs forced their gambling addiction on us.

It's not "gambling" because you're not losing anything. This is a game in which resources are unlimited.

Quality is just another game process ...

Re: Quality killed this game for me

It sounds like you want a shorter game. You can always play 2.0 if you don't like how long Space Age is.

Quality is optional, though. One can choose not to research it and not to use it.

The fact is, SA is a constantly moving target, so there's never a point where you can sit down and ...
