Re: How much more the devs get if I buy through the website?
Not activating on steam isn't helping Wube at all. Activating on steam helps steam and strengthens Wubes relationship with Valve. Valve wants users on their platform and their hosting costs are minimal. They get active users for free, without any onboarding costs. Valve can sell games to active ...

Nope. 30%. Same as Steam.Jeebz wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2024 12:44 pm What about GOG? I thought they have lower cuts compared to other platforms

Marathon: Large distances to ore - empty furnaces
I'm playing Marathon (everything is much more expensive to build). I'm megabasing and I'm at the point where the distances to ore are getting very large. I'm doing a large grid of cells. For iron and copper plates, each cell has 96 furnaces. The problem is that I'm putting red 1 mods in the plate ...

How big is the Steam performance hit?
I'm curious if anybody has tested to see how much of an impact Steam has on Factorio.
I know that I build big bases, so I need every last CPU cycle I can get. When I'm running my big bases, I'm not running extra programs in the background on my computer, because I'd really rather have the FPS/UPS ...

This sounds like a Steam problem. Can you reproduce it when you're not using Steam?

Re: How much more the devs get if I buy through the website?
Steam takes 30%, so WUBE makes 43% more when people buy it directly from them instead of buying through Steam.

Re: Factorio price in Poland
A. Wube doesn't control Steam's prices.
That is not accurate, the devs can set any price for any currency they want, it's just a hassle to do and keep track of.
OK, fair enough.
My second point still stands. If you want to support the Factorio developers, you should buy it from them ...

Re: Factorio price in Poland
You're complaining about Steam's prices to Wube. That makes no sense.
A. Wube doesn't control Steam's prices.
B. There's no reason NOT to buy it from Wube directly. In fact, if you really wanted to support the developers, you WOULD buy it from Wube so that they would make more money, and not have to ...

Re: About Marathon difficulty and the development of Factorio
I'm doing a Megabase right now in a marathon game, and I love it. Because everything is much more expensive, you have to keep pushing out to find newer (and bigger) resource patches. And, I put production modules in everything possible (to save resources), and that is a decent resource strain, too ...

Re: Train Circuit Networks
I agree with MeduSalem. I build really big megabases, but I don't use stackers, either.
I don't particularly care if a train arrives to resupply a factory before the buffer chests empty out. I generally build my bases in a grid format, so if I don't have enough of a certain type of material, it's ...

Re: Trains, Outposting and other things that annoys me in Factorio
You don't have to do "outposts". I run a simple border around everything.
If you feel like you have too many miners vs assemblers, you can put production modules in all of the assemblers that you can, and that'll change that.
I don't care about how my trains load or unload. It doesn't effect my ...

Re: Train for construction.
There's already a mechanism for increasing the robot worker speed an infinite amount (post-satellite launch technology). So really, if your bots are getting too slow, then you can just research this as much as you'd like to make them as fast as you'd like.

When I play the new expansion, I'll play it at least once with no mods. I trust the developers and I want to see what they've created, before messing with it in any way.

IR3: Steam all the way to rockets
Just throwing this out... I'd love to see a version of Industrial Revolution that allowed for steam power to be used all the way to (steam-powered) rockets.
It could be a really ridiculous and awesome looking steampunk fantasy version of IR3. Of course, tons of ridiculous team-powered technologies ...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?
Fluid dynamics (including turbulence) is something that actual physicists still cannot model accurately. That's hwy we still have wind tunnels. So to even be able to begin to accurately critique fluid mechanics on Factorio, I'd expect you'd need a phD.
I agree with jacmiech1. Forget the fluid ...

Re: SE Mod - got space capsule - can't build cargo rocket sections without having gone to space first?
Yup, build those rocket sections in a regular ol' Assembling Machine on Nauvis.
And yup, you're not flying anywhere in a capsule just yet. You can hitch a ride on that first cargo rocket flight, though!
