Your robots only bring you the cargo wagons since they can't find any locomotives that run on diesel fuel.
I ask my robots to bring me a few stacks of laser turrets.

I would have to say that the game is more like the movie Avatar.
Wonder if that's where the dev's got inspiration for it.

Re: Inserter Placement
I hardly call a few tiles wasting space, even if those pictures (especially the first) didn't employ the tactic, it wouldn't have resulted in space for more buildings. If using 3 tiles is too many, a simple splitter with with 1 piece of conveyor going back into the original conveyor only takes up 2 ...

A way to pin windows so they stay open?
Did some searching and didn't find this anywhere (and if it's already possible, sorry for suggesting it) The detail menus from clicking on power poles, chests, assemblers, etc close if you walk away from the object. I would like it if there was a way to 'pin' such menus so they can stay open no matt...

Could also use a console command to add larger ore patches and make them far away to add to the challenge. I did that since I quickly tired of having to spend half my play time monitoring, searching for, and moving mines. Added some ore fields far away from my factory and ran trains to bring the ore...

Most uncompact? Yours looks pretty compact to me.
This was mine, it's an old picture and has gotten far more cluttered since then.

Overall for one rocket, you need:
63,500 copper
89,000 iron
19,000 coal
10,000 solid fuel

I'm the same way. I like to have one game that lasts forever constantly growing and evolving. I don't use mods either since it's impossible to guarantee that mods will always be updated with *every* version of the game and be worked on for years. When a mod stops being updated, or if the developer t...

It's not really the same as America. First, 'native' American's aren't truly native, they weren't a species of human that evolved in America like the creatures on the world that we crashed on. The 'native' Americans just came to this land mass much earlier then the Europeans, migrating from Asia dur...

Re: Money
No, it was caused by capitalism. CEOs just wanting any excuse to get more money. Katrina had nothing to do with the prices, at least, not directly. If I recall correctly, all the gas companies coincidentally made record profits during that time as well. The companies simply used it as an excuse to r...

Re: Why did pictures on the internet get small?
when it comes to website images, smaller = faster loading and less storage/bandwidth usage. Faster loading = happier visitors, less bandwidth/storage = less running cost + happier visitors. As for images for personal use, they are still out there. If you use google, select images, then go to 'search...

Skylines doesn't have any of that specific resource to send/sell to other cities manually crap like XL did. Skylines uses the standard and realistic movement of resources via land/sea/air connections the same way simcity did. As in, you don't see it or have to manage it aside from just making connec...

Re: What's the first game you played with crafting?
hmm...hard to say.
Either Ultima Online or Runescape when it was new.
But I had also beta tested several other mmorpgs around that time so could have easily been something else.
Can't even remember the names of most of them. Some are still around (like Anarchy Online) many others have closed.

Re: Yet another green cells build :)
I don't like those long handed inserters either. Too slow for most things. But they are easy to avoid with liberal use of underground belts. I also don't like the thought of inserters moving things building to building. If something somewhere backs up and green circuits aren't as high in demand, the...

I'm probably just not understanding what your trying to do, but, are you trying to avoid using purely solar and accumulators? Build enough solar and accumulators and you wont need steam as a backup. I haven't touched my steam engines since switching to solar/accumulators back when my factory was muc...

Re: Strangest save names
Mine are usually just named with details of the game. In an unlimited sandbox type of game (Minecraft, I guess this game too), they are just named 'game' or named after the map. I'll usually only have 1 or 2 saves that I just work on non-stop for years constantly building and expanding As an example...
