Change Poison/Defender icon please
The poison capsule and defender capsule look almost identical (green, glowing capsules), and for players using the mouse pointer rather than shortcut keys, in the heat of battle it can be frustrating, if not deadly, to confuse the two. Why not simply change the color of one of them?

Multiplayer name in Single Player
Joined a multiplayer game for the first time the other day. Picked a name. Later, when I played my single player game I noticed I now had my multiplayer name displayed during the single player game (on the minimap). It seems to have been written into the save file somehow, because I changed my multi...

Dolby Axon, anyone?
I was doing a bunch of reading about what's the best gaming VOIP program, and came across Dolby Axon . Did some searches on it and the sound quality is supposed to be great, virtually no setup (sort of like Skype in that regard), and just sort of great all-around. I was wondering if anyone here uses...

+1 to this. It would have to be like trying to explain physics to a 5-year oldSiC wrote:Honestly, only a step-by-step dummy tutorial would be capable of describing that stuff to me.

Posting your save file would help in determining why the train would choose the longer route.

Re: [MOD 0.12.x] Natural Evolution - All things Alien! - 5.0.6
Quick question: I tried the Expansion mod a couple of times when I first started playing, because I wanted a challenge, but gave up when I found my base constantly under attack and couldn't get anything accomplished. I decided to play a mostly vanilla game except using RSO so I'd have to use trains....

Re: Why use trains?
Well, I use the RSO mod, so trains aren't optional, lol. Starting resources are slim, and the only coal I've found so far is about 300 klicks away from base, so I doubt using transport belts is feasible. This short video will give you some perspective on how much transport belt you'd need: https://w...

Re: Train signal and/or pathfinding weird thing
First of all, you want to use regular signals, not chain signals. Secondly, the pictures you posted show that you have two pair too many signals installed. Remove the signal pair that are on the far right and far left (if you mouse over these signals that are "before" and "after"...

Re: Challenging enemies
If you only had one attack after 7 hours and are looking for a more aggressive enemy, I suggest trying Natural Evolution mod. Specifically, the Expansion module, which allows biters to create new bases faster than vanilla, as well as build them closer to your base, and wander farther from their home...

Re: Random screen stuttering / flashing
Try this once: enable desktop composition and disable vsync. Well, that was quite an adventure, and one that I'm not hoping to go through again any time soon. I had to run services.msc and enable Desktop Manager Window Manager Session Manager service, then choose an Aero theme (yuck!), then find an...

Add "camera zoom level" to save file
The game doesn't remember the camera zoom level when you save/quit/restart. Very annoying to find the camera zoomed all the way in every time I start the game. Not a huge issue, but should be something that's included with the save file, I would think.

Re: [0.12.x] RSO Discussion thread
In the config file there's a section for biter spawning (disable_RSO_biter_spawning ). I'm curious what RSO is doing with biters that is different than the vanilla game? I know you can adjust the biter to spitter ratio, but other than that, is there something different than vanilla?

Re: Random screen stuttering / flashing
Desktop composition is disabled. Pretty much everything is disabled with Windows 7. I'm in what might be called "Classic XP mode" (no Aero, themes, etc). No other software is running in the background other than Steam. Issue is present in both fullscreen and windowed modes. When I switched...

Random screen stuttering / flashing
Issue: At random times the game will "stutter", which appears (to me) to be the game losing vertical sync with the monitor's refresh rate. At times it can be so bad that I actually see my monitor "flashing" on and off, as if the refresh rate is dropping to 20 or fewer times per s...

Exiting Trains is backwards...
Since the game is an isometric view game, with the player's camera looking north, it makes sense for the player's avatar to exit trains on the south side rather than always on the north side of the train, where the avatar is hidden from view. I can't begin to count the number of times I've exited a ...

Re: [Oxyd] Enemies not expanding
Thanks much for taking the time to do all that! It certainly explains why I missed seeing it. I must say though, I'm a bit surprised as well as disappointed a little. Out of all those enemy bases, only a single one expanded? I expected a higher percentage than that. Is there a console command to cha...

Re: [Oxyd] Enemies not expanding
I can't reproduce your issue. I loaded your save, and in about 20 minutes, there was a successful biter expansion. How do you "see" a biter expansion? I sat there in map view mode for 30 minutes, F5 enabled, with "show_enemy_expansion_candidate_chunks" turned on. I set game.spee...

Re: Enemies not expanding
Here's the saved game file. For mods, I just have RSO and WaiTex. RSO T2.zip Here's my modified RSO Config file: config.lua Whether that value is vanilla or not, this game seemed strange to me. It's the first and only game I've played where I never once had any part of my base attacked by biters. Th...

Edited at the same time you posted, haha. Thanks for all the help, and the great mod!
Edit: And actually I posted the wrong saved game, but in the end it didn't matter.
