No, it should be difficult at the start (but not luck-based) and late game problems should be about efficiency, not existential.

Thx for the tips guys. So, turn down the biters, bots and direct, not belts, and solar/accum for power (I'm not so experienced as to be sick of them so it'll be OK). Or you expand your territory, move your defences outside of your pollution. Then they will only attack to try expanding there bases. Have to do this with my map also, every few minutes there are biter attacks and i have to run from one end to another to expand my defences. Without robos this is ver...

After I launched a rocket I launched 43 more. Now I have put rocket launches on hold while I figure out if it is possible to launch one rocket per minute and eat all the resulting science.
