Re: Camping spawners as opposed to killing them

That's very odd. The evolution factor should still increase with pollution, and with time. The only part you are preventing is killing spawners... Can you post the number of hours in this game, and the evolution factor? Also any mods. I think the idea is that you can simply avoid the sharp jump in ...

Re: Efficiency modules need a downside

The thing is, efficiency modules do have a downside: You can't use speed or productivity if you use them. Further reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opportunity_cost There's no downside compared to not using them and leaving the slot empty. There's scenarios where you might not want to use spee...

Re: Efficiency modules need a downside

If I would have to make a suggestion it would probably be "Increased Energy Efficiency in trade of Reduced Crafting Speed". The issue with that is that speed modules have the downside of costing more, so it would either be making the modules basically useless or being able to just use bot...

Efficiency modules need a downside

Currently there's no reason to not use efficiency modules, because they reduce energy cost and pollution without any downside. They're a flat benefit, so you can just put them anywhere to reduce costs without thinking about it. With speed modules you're working out a nice ratio of efficiency and spe...

Re: Auto-Download required mods when joining a server

I read in another thread that one thing holding this back is copyright. For some games, they have a central repository for the mods where developers have uploaded them since the copyright terms did not allow redistribution via local game servers. So the problem is more legal than purely technical. ...

Re: [Feature Request] auto-deny players by ping

It's important to actually do more than 1 packet's worth of testing, preferably at least 50. It's easy for a single packet to mysteriously take half a second to get to where it wants to go, and it wouldn't be representative.

I actually like the vehicle controls as they are, limiting to axis and diagonals would actually be annoying to use IMO.

Re: Loader Poll - Trying to get an idea of what the opinions are

Sadly the poll restricts a lot in the opinion one can express. I wanted to vote "only from chest to train, and only for raw material (ore/coal/stone)" , which would have the double advantage of : - limiting seriously its vanilla opness - adding the mechanic so it can bo modded for whoever...

Re: Filling assembly machines

Better translation:

Why do inserters fill two request's worth of a single item before moving on to the next item required? It would make more sense to do a single request's worth of all items before moving on to the second.

You're welcome to elaborate on that option, the poll was mainly to cluster opinions since I saw a lot of repeated statements in the FFF thread.

Good idea, Stickied it for everyone to see And i added a poll option of my own which is an idea i thought might be balanced Thanks, I appreciate the sticky. Personally, I think going that far with limitations is a bit too far and would severely impact the usefulness of the belt piece. It also doesn...

Loader Poll - Trying to get an idea of what the opinions are

I've noticed a few differing opinions on loaders, almost unanimous agreement that they're OP but a lot of variety in how they should be fixed. It's a little hard to gauge how much people agree with a given idea, so I've made a poll to consolidate the data for both myself and the devs if they happen ...

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth

I think that the loader, as the name implies, should only be allowed to feed items into a container (including train carriages, assemblers, furnaces, etc.) and not pull from one, and should not have any method of filtering or disabling them (they're basically a belt piece). That way, inserters maint...

Re: Dynamic Music

I have some thoughts on this, since I've had a fair few games that I feel would benefit from this. I feel that it would be ideal for some objects (trees, belts, etc.) to have a designated area where they add some sound value (falling off with distance) that progressively influences the music. For in...

Re: Balancing research speed - marginally decreasing lab efficiency

I'm on the fence for changing research speed, purely because I find myself on both sides of the issue depending on how I'm playing. I have two games: - First game; I've automated science production and I'm burning through it all, 12 labs are burning through packs like no tomorrow - Second game; I'm ...

Re: Make Spawners scale with Evolution Factor

Instead of health increases for higher tier spawners, maybe it should get higher resistances and a slight boost to regen so that weaker guns flat-out don't damage it enough to get past regen?

Sure : even I know how to do it :) Bue when I talk about the game, I always think "Vanilla". Because I'm against the idea that mods are a must have for a pleasant experience. I'm usually the same, but at the same time I think it's excusable in EA where you can suggest changes to balance w...

The font already has a black border to allow reading it on practically any background, but maybe it could be thicker. Personally, I could read it fine.
