Re: Kovarex in a row anyone?

[*] For my particular version, I find that the first three centrifuges have minimal overfills (occasionally a few more for the third), but the fourth gradually accumulates to the usual maximum. I think this is because you use blue inserters which can transfer at most 3 pieces in one swing. But over...

Re: Kovarex in a row anyone?

Doesn't that improve over time? As new light uranium comes in from the sorting of uranium ore the first centrifuge should be getting overfilled more and more. And along the chains the centrifuges should pick up from the output of the previous ones. The not-overfilling thing with the inserters picki...

Re: Kovarex in a row anyone?

Playing a little bit I've found a solution which reduces overfilling the centrifuges quite a bit: It depends on the timing of the input inserter which grabbing some U-238 after grabbing the required U-225. [...] Unless it's case B and the timing is magically exact right on the inserter speed I sill...

Re: Belt saturation detector/counter

I created a belt saturation detector. I would not call this nice thing a "saturation detector" but a "back pressure detector": It triggers when the sink of the belt does not keep up with consuming a full belt. A "Saturation detector" would detect if a belt is not full ...

Re: Belt saturation detector/counter

I need this the most when I'm doing belt upgrades. because when I raise a whole line (belt stage), sometimes there are bottlenecks in the old low stage that the hand cannot reach. ie example; all red belt, but in one frame there is an overlooked yellow belt. This breaks the flow. I need a counter t...

Re: What are the most impractical items in Factorio?

Each efficiency 2 in a furnace reduces pollution by 0.1/m. [...] Where do you get this number from? Putting an efficiency 2 module into a furnace reduces it power consumption by 40%, which also reduces it pollution by 40% (since pollution is tied to power consumption). The 0.1 value seems to be the...

Hmmm. Both the BPs in the links of the first post and the new one seems to omit the smelters.

I'm using 1.1.42 with no entity-changing mods -- just stuff like Rate Calculator, Editor Extensions,...

No, and that is on purpose. They were being targeted by stolen credit cards and getting hit with chargeback fees. Non sequitur. The OP talks about sending money directly to Wube. Without any credit card in between. Hence no credit card fraud would be possible. Since the customer initiates the trans...

Re: Make "sync mods" button larger and more noticeable

However, it seems, that many players don't get it still. Well, I tried to use load button. It asks about synchronization only if you miss some mods. But if you have some mods than weren't in the save, it doesn't. I'm one of those: So far I always wondered when and why Factorio asked me and when not...

Re: Worker speed 3 and utility science.

If a technology in the "Research" screen has a light-brown background then I should be able to research it. If not it should be red. To research a new tech requires not merely that you have the tech to produce the required science flasks, but that you actually are producing them. The ochr...

Re: Worker speed 3 and utility science.

This is not a bug. Then call it an improvement. I also stumbled over these things when I was new to Factorio. Why? Because my interpretation was: If a technology in the "Research" screen has a light-brown background then I should be able to research it. If not it should be red. That assum...

Re: How do I save UPS for megabase?

Also nobody seems to have linked The Factorio Benchmark Website in this thread yet, so here goes ;). I like that page but there are no numbers for contemporary versions of Factorio :( Quite some optimizations are not reflected by these benchmarks. So the actual value of that site of questionable. :...

Re: List of previous "stable" releases?

At the very least the download archive page implicitly lists the final stable versions for each subversion. (At least I don't remember any subversion that ended with a non-stable release?) *scratch head* This Page mentions some stable releases but some are missing -- for example 1.1.30, 1.1.21 and ...

List of previous "stable" releases?

Is there somewhere a list of releases that have been marked as "stable" in the past?

The main page only shows the current stable release number but not the historical stable release numbers.

Re: What does "Removed blueprint: map version too old" mean?

I managed to rescue one of the blueprints that had only a single modded entity amongst thousands of vanilla buildings by loading it in a seperate 1.0.0 installation, exporting it to string and then importing it into 1.1.32. But tracking down every affected blueprint and manually ex/import it is too...

Re: Synchronized Savegame

Well, my friends and myself have the same usecase and would benefit too! After some thinking I'd like to explain some of the benefits of that proposal: Most of my friends and I have a highly asymmetrical DSL connection. In my case: 27MBit/s downstream, 2.7MBit upstream. For downloading huge maps (~...

It's a well thought out concept, but I imagine it'd be way too much effort to implement for how niche it is.

That doesn't really work [...]
Leaves option a) -- just strip the suffix "/s" to align "mining speed" with "crafting speed" and similar stuff.

But just now it is considered "not a bug" :-(
