Re: Early Building Store
That smelter setup is giving me an aneurysm, and tauting it as good is downright insulting. Firstly, the throughput of ore is too large for the capacity of one output belt. Secondly, stone furnaces only need very little coal, so little that they can smelt more than 12 pieces of ore each piece of coa...

Re: Beautiful pattern from polution values
Looks like a topographic map to me. Could you post the "regular" pollution map for a comparison?
Would be pretty neat if Factorio could display pollution with isopleths for pollution - that way the map could show more than just the colour red.

Re: Pumps, boilers, steam egines and the mystery of hot water
The water disappears, which can easily be proven. Construct a water tank, and fill it with water of any temperature above 15C. Disconnect the water tank from its source, and then connect it to a steam engine (with an energy load). As the steam engine produces power, the water level in the tank will ...

Re: Another approach to Cable Resistance (with fluid network)
A somewhat abstracted way of implementing cable resistance is to give each power pole a constant power drain. Letting this power drain be proportional to the pole's coverage area, players would also be encouraged to use poles appropriate for the task at hand. It'd be a very direct way of emulating p...

Re: Blue Belt to Furnace Ratio
Gleaning the wiki, it's learned that a blue belt can transport 40 items per second (throughput, T). Knowing that it takes 1.75 seconds for an electrical or steel furnace to process a piece of ore, we get 1/1.75 ore per second per furnace (production, P). To process 40 ore per second, you would need ...

Re: Friday Facts #138 - Better Circuit Network III
Will Assemblers also get a circuit network upgrade, letting us select an item to produce based on signals? Imagine being able to set assemblers to produce X whenever the logistics system is low on X. Combine this with the requester chest upgrade, and a cleverly designed factory will be able to vastl...

Re: Belt Corner Speed or .12 got it wrong
I feel there should be no difference between the throughput of a curved and strait belt based on current graphics. Here is a real world example of how I feel it should work. No speed loss, no compression loss. That is the current state of the game. Firsly, the throughput of a Factorio belt is unaff...

Re: Max petroleum gas output
People told you wrong. With advanced oil processing : 4 refineries produce 4 Heavy, 18 light, 22 gas 1 heavy cracking turns 4 heavy into 3 light (total 21) 7 light cracking turn 21 light into 14 gas (total 36) so best ratio with vanilla and no modules is 4:1:7 You're completely ignoring that the di...

Smart Belt
Like the smart inserter, the smart belt will be an upgrade to its fast version, allowing integration into the circuit network. It functions like the express belt, but is for circuit purposes divided into blocks (like rails). Each block then produces signal outputs specifying the amount of belts in t...
