It could be useful for example you could have iron plates in one side going away from your furnaces and iron ore on the other side going towards them.
So you essentially have one belt doing the job of two.

Nicely done. I liked the overall layout you made and how you used belts to designate roads for your car. Have to say though that I did chuckle when you crashed it twice.

Not saying your design wouldn't work, obviously it would and the chances of the accumulators running out of power is probably 1 in a million. The only point I'm making here is that a dedicated power supply is the only way to guarantee that the inserters won't run out of power.

It seems that even with BurnHard's design, if the accumulators run out of energy(as unlikely as that is considering how much power inserters use) you'll be in the same situation. I think the only thing you can do, as you already said is to give the inserters a dedicated power source.
I don't think there is any other way to do it, not yet at least.

You can kill the large biters with machine gun + armor piercing rounds without any upgrades. It's not impossible and doesn't take long. As for turret spamming, yeah it's lame in my opinion but it all comes down to how the player wants to play. Okay maybe in multiplayer it shouldn't be allowed but in...

You need to use them as well because when your tanks fill up it will stop production which will stop the production of your petroleum gas as well. I think there is some way to feed it into your boilers to replace the coal, though I can't remember if you can feed it in raw or if there is some recipe ...

I think the explosive rockets do splash damage so even though they do less damage to one target they do more damage in total when hitting multiple targets grouped together.
