Making belts more relevant compared to Bots

This is kind of a hot topic right now, so here are my 2 cents. I think belt performance (as in throughput) is currently on a good level, however the process of building belt contraptions makes you run into different kinds of QoL issues. My passion for belts lasts only so much of them before giving u...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

That was quite an interesting read, thanks for sharing. I like belts and I like to make stuff using them. However, I do feel that sometimes they are too clunky and frustrating to build with compared to how quickly you could achieve the same thing using bots. Removal of belt compression is not very h...

They are not. Developers have done a ton of belt performance optimizations in 0.16, and this is just an unwanted byproduct. Be patient!

Re: UPS Random Drops

Your UPS is still at 60, only FPS is at 30. Looks like a problem with vsync. Try disabling it.

Resource re-generation

On our server we run into a problem where stone is only present in starting area. Other patches are miles and miles away and are very small. We don't want to restart or manually spawn stone veins. Is there a way to remove all resource veins and re-generate them using different generation options? (o...

Re: [0.15] OCD-friendly solar array, 0.932 ratio

The "perfect" ratio is still 0.84, but I think that having an overhead in accumulators is good, if not necessary. Why is ratio 0.84? According to my (maybe incorrect) math it's 0.95... Here is a sketch of the problem: https://image.prntscr.com/image/08aeada16e7d497dac1dd8891e4f9195.png P1...

Can be fixed by replacing the glitched signal. But still, needs looking into.

Can you walk between these arrays? Or are they meant to be shift-placed?

[0.15.6] Placing constant combinator

When placing a constant combinator, the blue electric network coverage overlay is not shown.
When placing other combinators, it's fine.

That's right, I see that one of the cores is more loaded than the others. But still, it's far from being fully loaded.
Core clock is above 4 GHz.

Re: [0.15.6] Huge frame drops for no apparent reason

How can I track down the reason? The CPU core that's used by Factorio is far from full load and the network is 100Mb/s. Map download speed is about 5-6 MB/s.

[0.15.6] Huge frame drops for no apparent reason

We are playing on Arumba's railworld server. The factory is quite big already, so the game has to be slowed down and we are running at 30 UPS/FPS right now. However, occasionally, intense lag-o-drome storms us, reducing players' FPS down to 2.6-2.7 (while keeping the UPS at 30). During this time, we...

[0.15] OCD-friendly solar array, 0.932 ratio

Advantages: Extra accumulators for power surges like laser turrets Perfect symmetry Copper wires look fancy and never mess up because of a different substation build order Supports both 1-tile and 2-tile passages between arrays Add concrete if necessary. http://image.prntscr.com/image/16802e02dc7049...

[0.15.6] Can't get rid of an empty blueprint

If a blueprint is empty, right-clicking on it does the same thing as left-clicking - picks it up in your hand.
This, among other things, makes it impossible to destroy it without filling it first.

So, you can't walk between the arrays? That's a pretty big downside.
